We don't rely on Middle East oil nearly as much as we used to. Russia has dramatically increased production over the past decade and so have Norway and Sweden in the Baltic Sea. Two days ago the Turkish government caught a couple of dudes trying to smuggle uranium to Syria (and guess who's south of there??? Iraq). We want to wait until they use that stuff??? We are THE one country that doesn't need help or approval from the rest of the pansies to act before Saddam the lunatic strikes again. I can't even believe some of you think nothing is ever going to happen. Stop watching left-wing CNN and get with the program..... :x

As far as the innocent people killed, you are talking about a few thousand in a country of millions. Do I want to see even one single life killed? Hell no, but it happens. It's better to lose a few thousand as opposed to the tens or even hundreds of thousands that will perish if Saddam ever builds his arsenal of evil. In fact I'd be willing to bet he'll kill his own people like crazy and blame it on the U.S., or as punishment for his power slipping away (He's done it before). He's nuts. HOWEVER, declaring war on Iraq NOW would not be good. We do not have enough support from other nations. If we did go in and take out Iraq itself then would have trouble devolping a solid new government, one that is free of socoipaths, like what we are trying to do in Afganhistan.

So, I say that we do take out Saddam, and If the only way is war, then we go in after we have gotten more support so we lessen the many enemies we have.

BTW, I think the Bush Administration is not taking this into full consideration, because they have to find away to get Media attention off the hurting economy, corrupt businesses, and everything else they have smashed in order to save their name. American's approval rating of him has actually dropped lately, so hopefully he can be taken out for 2004.

ALL of you are forgetting one thing.

The USA has never, ever in its history, started a war unprovoked (first strike?). Doing this will set a very very dangerous precedent. And this could lead up to the events that will cause the destruction of mankind.

The bottom line is this.
Our foreign policy sucks.

We should not be meddling in the affairs of other countries, EXCEPT For humanitarian aid and trade. We need to worry about our own selves... education, violence, the poor and destitute, raising our children properly, and being there for them, our prisons, anger management and people who can't control their temper (like that idiot who keeps harassing me with life threating threats).

Now, that doesn't mean that we shouldn't stop VERY BAD PEOPLE from doing things, otherwise we will have another Adolf Hitler on our hands. If the USA had not entered WWII in 1944 (???) When did we declare war(?) , the Axis powers might have taken over most of the free world. And that wouldn't do anything for anyone.

Doing something about the ethnic cleansing in the former Yugoslavia (milsoevic?) MIGHT have been a good thing, as that man was killing tons of people, much like Hitler did.


But...what has IRAQ done?

Besides invade Kuwait in 1990 (and that war had international support), what have they done since then?

develop some weapons? Well guess what, WHO CARES? Until they actaully start DOING something....the OIL companies care. We are there for oil. Thats the only reason. Black Gold. The oil companies are in control of this country, and we want to go there, not just to "remove Saddam", but to control the oil. Without oil, this country's economy could collapse in the likes NOTHING of you have ever, EVER ever seen before, in your lifetime.

If we simply gave aid to the Muslims, and trade, in exchange for oil, and kept our nose out of everyone else's business, we wouldn't have this problem. Americans would be welcome to visit the Holy Places, and other cities, because they would be known as a country that helped others, and didn't get involved politically, except for things that REQUIRED international agreement (very very important things). Saddam decides to suddenly activate his weapons and making preparations to gas Israel? THEN we can act....as we would have unilaterial international support, as he would be universally condemned. Unfortunately, that is our choice.

Act decent and start worrying about the people of this country, and only act when the need is truly warranted, or make an unprovoked attack (pre-emptive strike), in the interests of oil.

The events of the next few months will have an impact for as long as we all live here.


Just like the impact of the " Great War " (World War 1) is still shaping society today. (why? Because, Hitler was only made possible because of the humiliation and economic collapse of Germany, after the treaty of Versailles). So the events of World War 1, were partly responsible for what caused World War 2, and the events after the end of WW2, have evolved the societies into what they are today.

I would hate to think of what the "events of World War 3" would involve, as far as world layout, for those who survived it, and werent multilated or deformed enough to remain people versus creatures that needed to be put out of their misery...

There is currently a widespread anti-USA movement in the middle-east. Its dangers were proven last year with the attacks. Voting is closed, but I would vote yes because Saddam funds terrorists. He pulled strings a few months ago to get the Palestinians all riled up and blowing themselves up to draw the attention away from his despotism because he knows he's next. We can't start with the deeply rooted terrorist nations like Egypt, Iran, and Syria, so we have to start with the podunk dictators like Saddam and the Taliban.

I guess it depends on your definition of provoked, but Nam, Korea, Gulf War, and Afghanistan were denifitely either provoked or we were asked by our allies/UN to help intervene in the situation. Two points on this. First, if you want to wait until Saddam does something with his weapons of terror before acting, that's like standing under a grand piano held up with a fraying rope-and after the rope breaks and the piano is hurtling at you decide that action is needed. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. See my earlier post about Hitler and Stalin. IF you don't stop him know it'll be MUCH harder to later...

Second, no Middle East country wants to stop selling oil to us, nor do they want our economy to collapse. Why? Because the US economy is THE driving force behind the whole world economy. We consume the most oil, but who are they going to sell it to if not us? What good would that do their economy? They need to sell it to us as much as we need to buy it. And the way Russia is expanding their oil production our reliance on OPEC decreases a little every day. Norway and Sweden have also made huge strides in their production as well, especially in the Baltic Sea. Every time the US economy has a recession the WHOLE damn world goes into a recession. Every country on Earth sells products here, and they need us. The US Dollar is the unofficial currency in dozens of countries. We patent more new medicines every year than the rest of the world COMBINED. We patent more new computer technologies every year than the rest of the world COMBINED. So yes you are right that our economy would collapse without oil. But that will NEVER happen! The world needs us. There might be some extremists who don't care what happens as long as the US crumbles, but the rest of the world doesn't want that, believe me.

As far as being provoked when those bombs failed we should have took action,but when the planes hit we did and power of justice had it's price,(some innocent people died,sadly) If I had it my way I would stand in front of saddam with a pistol and the better man shall prevail.I would gladly put a knife to his vital organs and remove them for him.But unfortunatly He has to many people protecting his sick ass.So we have to depend on our soldiers to try and eliminate iraqi's sick **** of a leader.So if his own people can't handle their problem then we will!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
