Double check the DVD software and make sure it is Windows 2000 compliant. Just because it works under Win 98 is no guaratee it will work under Windows 2000. Go to thier web site and see if they have an upgrade. :bandhead:

Hmmmmm.......well, no luck so far. I went to the ASUS site but couldn't find my solution. Unfortunately, their forums were down, I figure someone else has seen the same error message (there). :bandhead:

Right click on the executable and go to the compatibility tab. Tell it to run under compatibility mode for Win98. See if that helps.

is the cd scratched at all? I know it is possible, but you could try to slow down your CDROM read speed and have it read at 1X and then try reinstalling the software. Nero I think has a CD speed control program.

This is how I got onto Sam. Someone couldn't install it becuase of a scratch, and ended up slowing the read speed down to 1x on a very good burner, it read fine, and then burned a copy. Tried out the game to make sure it worked, fell in love with sam. Over a year later, well here I am. :D

add biggd01@optonline.net to you list and you will see me on.

remove that software from your pc. it is most likely an old version and not compatible with win2000

Which software are you installing? PowerDVD? WinDVD?

I've got a WinDVD disk, however it likes to remind me that it is for a Dell system only. :oooo:

My mobo came with an ASUSDVD disk, so I'm trying to install it.

It gets all the way to the end of the install, where it asks you to reboot, and that's when the error message comes up.

I posted an url at the begining of this thread, here's another one that explains the error:

So I was walking around today at work when I noticed some boxes stacked along the wall. A picture on a carton in one of the boxes caught my eye. It looked like the picture on the carton my mobo came in for my home PC. So I looked in the carton, and started flipping through the CD's that were in it, and guess what, there in my pudgy little hands was a copy of PowerDVD XP 4.0!!!!!! :w00t:
I quickly ran into the mens restroom to wipe the poop off my bum......yes, of course I sh!t myself, wouldn't you? :P
Here was the solution to my DVD problem that I've been ****ing with for the past week......yes I was too cheap to go buy a disk.
Anyway, I brought the disk home, installed it, and it works, all is good in my little corner of the world.
