Command and Conquer: Generals

I saw a review during a very busy day here at work yesterday, which I didn't have time to fully read, that quoted CCG as the greatest game ever. I visit several gaming sites fairly often, and I'm sure this site was one that rarely gives good reviews of anything. They said Mech Warrior 4 was "high mediocre" when it came out, so I thought their standards were a bit high.

But...to see them rate this game as a perfect 10 in all categories was amazing. Is it that good?

I saw a review of C&C and they said it had the most realistic explosions they had ever seen. But the system requirements for that game......damn.

bleh. I don't got it, but insomnia's P4 1.5 ghz has troubles running it smoothly, he's got GeForce4 4600 too. :blink:

And, Hammer's actually online. Another thing, I don't think it's all that great, basically the same thing as Red Alert 2 with more complicate building engine and more system hogging. :P

Really? Your the first person who hasn't raved about it....but it's cool to hear another opinion about it.....

And yeah, it definitely hogs your PCs time to be sure....

Well, i've been playing the original Red Alert 2 which runs on my older 766mhz celeron fine, lett alone my 3.0 P4. Plus, the battle system is easier and it's alot easier to pick up on, even if the graphics aren't that great. Plus, on Generals, "most realistic explosions"? whatever. A nuclear missile explosion would hurt ALOT more than a building. Just my two cents. :thumbs:

I think they meant the actual look of the explosion, not the damage area...but thanks again for your insight :cool:

Its a fun game especially MP but i wouldnt call it the best ever not even the best C&C game......

Renegade gets my vote. It's a mix of the FPS (first person shooter) and alittle of the RTS too.

But he says his favorite thing is to carper bomb himself,
mainly because the computer will not sit still for it....

I liked Red Alert 1 the best (even though there were some balance issues). In original C&C and TIberian sun (which sucked :() the stupid apc engineer drop then sell all your oppoenents buildings was stupid. At least in Red Alert it only took 25% of the building helath so it took more than one to take over.

Red Alert : better than command and conquer, which was GREAT, my favorite

Tiberian Sun : heh, as good as red alert, but not worth the wait.

Red Alert 2 : too ridiculous for me, I mean, telekinetic Squids? rofl, still , aparently pretty good.

Renegade : the most worthless hunt of crap ever&#33;

Generals : looks good, but still I think WC 3 is the best. No i am not anti C&C

I bought C&C:generals - nothing new. gratest system requrements, not bad 3d graphic e.t.c.

Its Warcraft 3 Clean, as for me Renegade offered nothing new and gameplay was mediocre at best. Not being a fan of strategy games, i know very little about C&C, but i have played many titles like Red Alert. Its fun and all but these games dont offer as much action as i would expect. :down:

Warcraft, Starcraft, and other titles from Blizzard tend to be more appealing to me, but my attention quickly wanders to a more action-oriented titled eg. Quake, Serious Sam, Half-Life, etc.
