I think so, they are harder, more chewy then the crappy ones we have in the states. I used to live near this awsome candy store, and the guy that owned it imported them from Germany. They were the best! Plus he told me that they are pronouced with the u long as in the word You. Gumi maybe?

The 2 Basic Snack Categories:
SUGAR- Entenmanns Chocalate Fudge Cake, Fudge Golden Cake, Banana Cake, Whoppers Malted Milk Balls, Funny Bones (with the peanut butter middle), cannoli (Italian pastry), New York Cheese Cake, and on occasion a King size Three Muscateers Bar.

Salt- Greasy potato chips with salty onion dip. tortilla chips with burning hot, plaque removing salsa, raw anchovies packed in salt out of a can.

Milk goes good with the sugar and liberal amounts of Beer complement the salt. :lol:

What exactly is grits? I've had it a couple of times in Alabama and North Carolina. It seems to be ricey mush that needs some kind of kick. A splash of hot sauce maybe. :?:

You know something, I didn't know until just now. I had to go look at the ingredients on the box. I cheated :P I just knew I liked them. :wink:
It says they are ground white corn. You are right about needing some kick. Tabasco is good, but I prefer just butter with salt and pepper.

the best ever was the starburst hard candies. They were kind of like jolly ranchers, but without the pancreatic shock and mUCH smoother flavor and most importantly, unlike, the jolly ranchers, they never got sharp and never cut my tongue. But I haven't seen them in a few years. Stand 5-flavor life savers are an acceptible substitute. It's amazing how well hard candies can keep you awake and attentive during even the most mind-numbingly boring lectures.

Second best is reeses pieces.

I also like standard chewy starburst. And snickers. And abba zabba. And Now'n'laters. And tootsie rolls. And Reese's peanut butter cups. And cadbury eggs. And peeps. And the sees caramel- and toffee-based concoctions.
