The water you see is Fontana Lake on the North Carolina side of the Smoky Mountains. The picture was taken from Shuckstack fire tower about 3 miles from the Tennessee/North Carolina state line.

On a clear day you can see forever. Chattanooga has a lot of Civil war history associated with it. Many battlefields nearby.

I hear ya on the pool playing, I have a drinking curve. Shoot fair beers 1-2, shoot better on beers 3-7,start shooting worse and worse on beers 8-20.
