I love living in tornado alley. Its better than waching the CNN war coverage of Iraq. Its been a rough couple of days here in Oklahoma. I am watching a neighboring city on TV get nailed by a tornado. Thank GOD for underground houses.....

Oh God tornados suck. I live in Ohio, and Xenia, the city next door to us, has had 2 devastating tornados. One about 25 years ago, and one about 5 years ago. The town gets wiped out, and they rebuild. The town gets wiped out, and they rebuild. :WTF:

I wouldn't by a house without a basement around here. We are on the eastern edge of Tornado Alley.

Not too much bad weather here yet since I am a bit north but we have some watches and warning for some stuff overnight. The videos for some of these things are amazing.

Screw that.
I am glad all I have to deal with are people over the age of 80 that still drive
As well as Hurricanes.

Heh, at least you know a hurricane is coming days before it gets to you. Sometimes you have less than 5 minutes with a tornado. Sometimes you just hear it coming even before the sirens go off. RUN! :w00t:

Its not that bad I have lived here for 30 years and have yet to see a tornado, except on TV.

Do not know to much about hurricanes but I would say the warning time makes a big difference and plus you never know when a Tornado will hit; but both are devastating.

Our amusement park (Frontier City) and one TV station just got hit and know we are having power surges. Whats the old saying put head between you legs and kiss you ass good bye.

Know there are two on the ground what a night.

Huge difference. If you get killed by a hurricane it means you were to stupid to leave the coastal areas before it hit. If you get killed by a tornado then you probably didn't have enough time to run to a safe shelter, or it hit at night and you never heard the sirens, or it just dropped down right on top of you and you just never had a chance at all.

Do you have a basement? If not then you should be in an interior room in your house away from the windows. Bathrooms are good because the surrounding plumbing helps to reinforce the walls.

Wrap yourself in blankets or drag a matress on top of you. And get off the freakin computer!

Not always the case. Sometimes you have only a few hours to evacuate, and when you live somewhere with one road in and out life sucks..... But at least you have some kind of warning that you may die. Even if you are sitting in your car on a bridge that is about to get wiped off the planet.

I lived in Jacksonville FL when a hurricane hit, and in Pensacola when a hurricane hit. You're right Sirc, you know they are coming, so you have time to get inland. The only problem is, most hurricanes generate tornadoes. In Pensacola, the hurricane (can't remember the name) slung a tornado or two into Alabama and Tenesee. Both are terribly devastating. Really hard to say which is actually worse... :WTF:

No tornados in MI so far. We had one almost 20 years ago that ripped through Kalamazoo though, tore that rathole of a city apart.

Do you live in the Florida Keys Slice? That's one place I wouldn't want to be when a major hurricane hits.

Yes I have live in a under ground house so all is well. Its still 15 miles away, but its regrouping and as far they can tell its 1mile wide and getting stronger, I would guess a F4 right now. Its been on the ground for atleast 2 hours maybe going for a record tonight.

i get alot of severe thunderstorms during the summer in new york... couple of tornado watches here and there but havent had a tornado for 4 years... 2 twin ones were right down my road and went up a mountain and died.... last year there was a tornado warning in dutchess county (county just south of me) so yeah... we rarely get tornadoes here.. :wootrock:
