I got it, but what do you do with it? Run the .bat file?
Also, is there a PunkBuster update that I need?

you want to put that .pk3 file in your ufreeze folder. C:/programs/Q3/ufreeze
It shouldn't be a .bat file. It should be a .pk3 file.

never seen those before :hmmm:
I will pm you a new link, and it is one file only. The upgraded version of freeze mod only requires one file. It is a .pk3 file. Check your pm for the linky

When I clicked on the link you sent me, and then clicked on download file, I got this. WTF. Now what? This is why I quit Q3 in the first place. :bandhead:

I resent ya a different link. That better work.
I edited your pic, for secuirty reasons there.
Okay, the unfreeze one worked, but I still don't have the Punkbuster update. I think. :hmmm:
We need to have a step by step procedure for this. Plutoxin_7 is gonna want to do the same thing, and possibly other Reapers members.
Okay, I finally got PB to update. It just took forever. I think I'm set now.
But I still suck. :bawling:

pk3 files are really zip files.
i think that IE will add a .zip to any zip files that it finds without a zip extension.
that is why the http://ultra.freeze.co.nz/files/ufreeze-36core.pk3 file
comes in as http://ultra.freeze.co.nz/files/ufreeze-36core.pk3.zip
the fix is to rename the file without the .zip
Okay, now I need to know how to do the grappling hook thingy. :P
OUTLAWS Spike

Grappling hook
Example: \bind v +button5 binds it to the "v" key. You can pretty much use any key that isn't being used to do something else. Aim where you want to go and hold down the "v" key and away you go. To keep clinging to the wall, Just continue to hold down the "v" key.
Where do I do that? In the console?
I want to use the right control key. What is that called?
And thanks for your help everyone!
I was just playing with Chico on Fragetti's server, but I got an interupted connection. :bandhead:
OUTLAWS Spike

Yeah do it in the console, you can bind any key you aren't using for something else!
That didn't work. :hmmm: Should there be quotes around something?

You have to be either in a server running the mod or start your own server with the mod to enter the command. Starting Q3 and dropping down the console and entering it won't work.
FUS1ON
05-29-2003, 11:16 PM
Also you won't be able to test it if you start your own server, You will need to go to a server running the mod with the grappling hook option turned on to test it.

No problem :D
Sirc can you imagine SS with a grappling hook? Man that would be kickin! :jammin:
Grimmy
05-29-2003, 11:56 PM
That would just ROCK!! Maybe the makers of Will Rock will add that as a bonus weapon :w00t: :jammin:
It's gonna take me a while to master the grappling hook. First I have to remember to use it, then I have to learn to stop dropping myself into the abyss (or lava, whatever the case may be). :bandhead:
I don't think I like it mapped to the CTRL key.
How do you guys have your controls set up? Tried to keep things as close to my SS setup as possible:
Arrow keys: forward, backwards, strafe left/right
Mouse 1: fire, Mouse 2: jump
Mouse wheel click: zoom (for the rail gun? :WTF: )
Mouse wheel scroll: weapons select
CTRL: G-hook
Keypad 0: Um, rocket launcher I think. :hmmm:
Grimmy - I'm not sure how late I'll be up. I got about 4 hours sleep last night. :bandhead:
I have the grappling hook bound to the mouse wheel click. Easy access because you'll be using it constantly. I rarely use zoom, unless perched on a space platform with the railgun.

I use the control button for my grappling hook. Took a little to get use to, but it's normal to me know.
Just think, in sam I have that button for crouch. I'd show Mod up in a crouching match. Sorta like dancing

I still don't know what the hell I am doing, but I can grapple... :P

 I use asd for normal movements and f for GH.
Next question. I know that there is general and team chat. Which keys? And is there a key to cause the "Help I'm frozen!" message, or is that another binding. I seem to remember that there is a way to actually tell your team were you are?
FUS1ON
05-30-2003, 01:55 AM
There's an option to turn on the Team Overlay that shows where your other teammates are at at all times, What weapon they have, Strength, etc ..... Go into the Setup, Game options, Then Draw Teamoverlay. You can set it for where you want it to show like upper right of the screen.
FUS1ON

Here's the voice/saying commands that I use.
Freezetag/CTF/Etc Teamspeak
Look in your menu (Setup,Controls/Misc) and assign a key for Chat Team this will allow you to talk to your team without the opposing team seeing what you are saying and also show your location on the map so they can for instance come and unfreeze you, Give strategic information like if you are being guarded or not. Better yet while in the game (Team games like Freezetag/CTF/Etc..) drop the console down and type \bind x "vsay_team help;say_team I'm frozen!" With this you would hear "I'm frozen!" and would show "I'm frozen!" (also showing location like regular talking does).
Teamchat commands (I used the h, j & k buttons, But you can use any buttons not already assigned.)
I'm Frozen = \bind h "vsay_team help;say_team I'm frozen!"
Thank You = \bind j "vsay_team praise;say_team Thank You!"
I'm on my way = \bind k "vsay_team helping;say_team On my way!"
In-Game Comments
Here's a few in-game comment bindings you can add if you want to. There's no sound, But both teams will see these.
Examples:
Nice Shot (N button) /bind n "say Nice Shot"
Thanks (M button) /bind b "say Thanks"

Arrows - Movement
CTRL - G-hook
Mouse 1 - Fire
Mouse 2 - Jump
Press mouse wheel - Use Item
Mouse page up - Rocket
Mouse page down - Shotgun
Mouse back button - Railgun
Make sure you download the Logitech program for your MX700. It will let you map every button on the mouse to something.

Setting up the grappling hook is proving tough for me.
I had it first on mouse button 2.
Then I tried CTRL but both didn't feel right.
Now I am trying the "E" button and it seems the most natural.
How does everyone else do the GHook? :hmmm:

Depends on if you use the ASWD or arrows to move. I use the arrows so CTRL is easy for me.

In your setup menu, go to the "shoot" section. There you will find a line called offhand grapple. Just assign it a convenient button.

Just remember there are two q3config files 1 in your baseq3 folder and 1 in your ufreeze folder. In order for your changes to stick in freeze tag go in the game go to mods load ufreeze and then make chages or join the server then spectate and then hit esc go to setup and adjust your settings
