After going back and forth, me and Lev wired my new house with cat5e with a total of 15 ports throughout the house. That includes phone and LAN drops. Was tough work but I think I'll be happy with the results.

 Figures.
Do all the wires meet like in a box, so you can switch them around if you move your puter and all?

Right now I have all the wires going through the attic and the coming down through the frame of the house in thr corner. They go down a wall stud and through the floor and are just hanging in the basement for now. Once the basement gets poured, I'll build something to hold everything and also a patch panel.

You're the man, Sal. So how many of those 15 computers do you already own? :P I expect we'll see a paypal banner on here by next week to accept donations. ;)

That blue cable looks familiar. Did you get it at Home Depot? I take it that you ran a few extra cables in the event one fails. Bigg does have a point about putting it inside of pvc but you will be fine as long as nobody staples in to the wires while insulating the walls. Oh and I suggest you test them since you stapled them to the studs with a gun. That is not a great idea because the staples can cut the insulation and will eventually start to rust and can cause problems in the future. They make plastic U nails that are great for this purpose.

Yea they got stapled to the studs kinda tight but not tight enough to break the wire. We used steel u-staples but I think they were still a tad small. Also, there are so many wires because I am using the cat5e for both LAN and telephone ports. As for PVC...good idea but too late for now :D

Just need a 10 port wireless router now, then ya could hook most all the puters up and still run around with a laptop or pda and surf the net :jammin:
