No - no - no - no.
Spend an extra $100 and get a 9700 pro.
Or get a 9500 pro, there are driver hacks to make it a 9700 pro.
Take a look at tomshardware.com to see all the cards rated.

I'm with JIM there. Really, all those cards are pretty fine right now, but with the next generation of video card taxing games just a few months ahead of us in the form of HL 2 and D3, and whatever else, even the 9700 Pro will get dated a bit soon....although it'll get you up the hill better than the 9600. I have a gf4, and will hold off now until the 256 meggers are more mainstream, but even then I doubt I'll be able to stomach the pricetag of a 5900 Ultra FX - which is shaping up to be the D3 card. We'll see more accurately when the 9800 PRo 256 and the the 5900 Ultra 256 are on shelves and the drivers are fine-tuned.

Yeah I did LOTS of card research over the past months and I know that unless heavily overclocked the 9600 pro doesn't compare with the 9500 pro. I keep hearing go for the 9700 pro but then again its pricey.
