this virus have couple of names w32/pinfi (NAV system) and w32/pant.a (Mcaffee system)

I had this virus twice and had reinstalled my O/S twice

this virus infects only *.stf and *.exe files. he's ''Base" is in c:\windows\temp folder known and it can' t be deleted throught Windows. So i erased it from MS DOS, but it didn't correct the problem. With this virus computer loads longer and RAM (operating memory) has big LAG :bawling:

To correct the problem i formated my HDD (erased all contained data) and reinstalled Windows :hmmm:

I don't think this is the best way to correct the problem :(

If anybody can help me, please post a reply

BTW remember, it infect only *.stf and *.exe files and i didn't Uploaded it to GM ;)

Thanks for attention

How did you get the virus?

This page from Symantec (http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.pinfi.html) discusses W32.Pinfi, and the removal procedure. Looks like a nasty one, as it requires a registry edit to get rid of it all. Not too hairy, though, follow the instructions and you'll be fine.
