Can someone please remind me what the console commands are to show the netgraph and frames per second in SS? I'm trying to decide if my DSL service sucks, or if my frame rate is low, or both. Online DM has been really choppy for me the past few days. :(

/hud_bshownetgraph=1 for the netgraph and
/hud_bshowstats=1 for FPS
/hud_bshowlatency=1 for ping

Sirc, you should run a benchmark demo, so you can get an average on your framerate in Sam. If you bring up the fps on the screen, that number changes so fast, it is hard to judge your framerate with it. You can benchmark by typing dem_bProfile=1 Then run one of the installed game demos or any demo that you may have and once it finishes, hit your ~ key to view the results.

Slice - is there a demo that most people run? It would be nice to compare it with something. I know that the frame rates can drop pretty low in some areas even on high-end cards. And thanks for the tip!

Do the netgraph, ping, and fps readouts cause any significant drop in performance?

Run the yodeller demo, we have some benchmarks in that demo in the Seriously forums in Gods somewhere. Once you get the results I will go find em and post em here. ;)

Okay, here's what I got for the Yodeller demo:

113.1 KB used for demo profile:
Originally recorded: 5740 frames in 62.0 seconds => 92.6 FPS average.
Without excessive peaks: 5419 frames in 57.1 seconds => 94.9 FPS average.
High peak: 378.1 FPS
Low peak: 51.8 FPS
Low sustained: 62.5 FPS (200 frames in 3.2 seconds)

I don't think that's too hateful. I am running at 1280x960x32.

I think it was my DSL. I turned off the modem for a few minuts and turned it back on and it seems to be doing better. I'll be playing tonight and I'll keep an eye on the net graph.

Ha Ha, ya that is pretty laggy. But don't make me whip out my laggy numbers, you would fall out of your chair! Add like 8 digits to the ones you have. :P Your framerate is great, it is not that! Good luck. BTW I hope you didn't let Nick win that match with u, him and Sifi in it. ;)

I always have my netgraph going, that way I can keep an eye on my connection while playing. Also, if I am the only on in a map, most of the time I can see when someone joins, so I know to get my knife ready hehehe

Hmmm, I can usually HEAR when someone joins. It makes a distinctive sound.

I didn't type in anything. It has always kinda made a, well um, a whoosh sound or something. I can't describe it.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Is Nick your brother? Nick is very good, and has beaten me more than once. On the other hand I have never beaten you, you always kick my butt around whatever map we are playing.

Well yes he his my brother.No offence takin dude.He his improving very fast a bit like myself.Watch out cause i 've seen a few of his games and i'll have to play aginst him when he gets his computer.But for know he plays on mine considering he does not have one.I work he plays.It was completly the opposite not long ago.I played and he worked.Ho well makes me less play these games.see you around sirc

I mean I know you can hear when they join, but with the netgraph thing, you can see it before they are actually on the server. Gives ya a chance to get to where you think they might go first.

Ha! I never give the game that much thought. That's why I'm not better than I am. I just like to run around and frag! Even when I win I usually get killed more than the other players. I just respawn as fast as possible and jump back into the middle of the chaos again! Woohoo! I love this game! :D
