Quake 3 Help

in Multi player I try to refresh the servers and it informs me "no response from master server" What causes this and how can I fix it. I have just installed it and have the 1.32 patch.

Jag i'm trying to find you an answer on Google, So far i've run across some that say to check to see if your internet connection in Q3 is set to internet and another that suggested getting ASE (Which is what I use :D). Check your conn. stting and I'll keep looking just in case.

I would get either ASE (GAMESPY IS BAD!), They are much better anyway. Trust me the in-game server browser is VERY slow and sucks.

Or you could get the Q3plug browser plugin LINK (http://www.gamemecca.net/servers.php)

OK I have it up and running and have played my frist frag match. But there is one question how come every time I go to enter a server I need to put in my CD Key. Is there a setting that I dont have on or what? Thanks guys for all the help like you said it was Game spy. So i downloaded ASE and it is fine now

Jag look in the Quake III Arena/ufreeze folder, If you have a file called q3key, Delete it. The only folder that should have a q3key file is the Quake III Arena/baseq3 folder.

I don't have a /ufreeze folder. But I did notice that there is q3key entries one in baseq3 folder and one in the excessive folder right below screenshots

I always just specify IP.

if you don't like typing numbers, add
216.164.22.124 frag

to the c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file

then you can type frag for the server name

you can do this for everything where you have to type in numbers

I don't think re-installing will help, Spike & Chico both have had that problem, We kept entering the key code and finally it went away. Not sure what causes it or why. :WTF:

There's two ways:
1 Make sure you have the autodownloads option turned on in your menu settings, Than join a server, After a while it will kick you to Spect. mode while it updates. It takes about minutes and doesn't tell you when it's done. After about 2 minutes hit the Esc key, go to Start and you can join whatever color team you want to. If you can't then it's prob'ly not through updating yet.

2 Download this file Pbweb.exe (http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbweb.exe) to your Quake III Arena/pb folder and run it. This way is the fastest.

ok Guys here is the problem now. I cannot get onto Frag's server. I am not that good at putting stuff where it needs to be and cannot remember all the stuff that I have downloaded for Quake or if it is everything that I need. If I send someone a remote assistane would you please help me. Maybe you will know what I have screwed up.

how have you tried getting on? maybe your typing the ip wrong. go to console (~) and type \connect [ip here]
