To BFG or Not to BFG

I voted no because:
1 It changes the game too much because it becomes a game of which team can control that section of the map instead of using the skill weapons.
2 With the g'hook enabled it's too easy to get and there's no risk in going after it. Normally you have to rocket jump to it or have to time a normal jump or strafe jump.
3 No skill involved in using it with it's splash damage and rate of fire.
4 I think it will run off the newer players we are trying to attract.
5 Tournaments don't use it.
6 I don't need it. :P

Maybe turn off the Quad then as well.

Whoever controls the Quad wins the game. It is the same as Serious Sam.
Plus I have learned where all the Quads are and I can time them.

It's a fun weapon but it changes the strategy of the game. Camping around it ruins the game. The g-hook makes it much too easy to get to.

I vote no, for most mega-weapons in DM stuff. They can ruin things at times. Descent (1 and 2) still ranks, for me, as one of the great FPS games of all-time - the netcode was amazing , acheiving good 3D connections over 14.4 and 28.8 modems on the net, and the play was excellent, but then earth-shakers started being used so much that shooting guys normally became a lame alternate weapon. The BFG in Quake, as I remember playing Quake, anyway, didn't seem to upset things too badly. When the gun does ALL the work, it isn't fun for me. After playing a ton of Doom modem-to-modem, I played a game called Rise Of The Triad, and the ridiculous guns in it, like a pyramidding (is that a word?) flame thrower made it laughable, fun only for a novelty.
