My thoughts about Q3

This is just MHO, but I'd like to see a regular GM DM Q3 server set up. No freeze tag, no GH, no custom maps, just regular DM for us n00bs. :thumbs:

And no space maps. :bandhead: :rofl:

I just used ASE to find servers when I first started playing. I personally like to do instagib because it doesn't require thinking about what weapon to use. It can also get you used to the physics. However, the only way you're going to be able to compete in freeze tag is if you master the grappling hook. It is your escape route that is always there. :) Keep plugging away and have fun.

I just played a couple games if instagib on the A51 server. Very fun! :thumbs:

Actually, I'm not trying to "master" the grappling hook. I don't play UFT that much anyway. It seems to me that there aren't that many other servers that have it enabled. If you got used to moving around the map with the GH I would think that it would be harder to adjust when you're playing on a non-GH server. Unless you play nothing but UTF on Frag's servers, in which case I suppose it's not an issue.

I'm currently just trying to work on my strafejumping and learning the standard maps.

Forget the hook. Learn to move about the maps, and learn strafejumping. Weapon selection and item control will help you immensely. I realize that not everyone aspires to be a pro, but to watch them in action is amazing. Even an entry level pro will run circles around you, even if you use the hook. If you focus on the Quake basics, you can go to any server and do well.

Ecactly&#33; I don&#39;t use ASE and I started playing Q3 to hang out with my GM pals. So I have to agree with Sirc on this one.

But anyway, I guess my original point was - way have four UFT servers? Don&#39;t get me wrong, I think it is awesome that Frag is providing them. Frag rocks&#33; :wootrock:

But I think he will get more GM people playing on them if some variety is offered. Why not make one regular DM with standard maps?

Just a suggestion from a Q3 n00b. :P

I was just playing there. I could never get a weapon&#33; LOL. Is there a way to have the weapons respawn faster? I was getting owned because I kept getting hunted down while weaponless. All the bots were running around with rocket launchers and I had nothing. :bandhead:

Plus there was what seemed to be a seasoned player there that tended to hunt me exclusvely. :w00t: :rofl:

for me f1 is vote yes, f2 is vote no

or you could /callvote nextmap (I think that is it)
