There is a version of DX 9.0b out there now, you can get it here (http://www.neowin.net/comments.php?id=12858&category=main&foo=DirectX%209.0b%20Official%20Release%2007-24) , and MS does have it here (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=141d5f9e-07c1-462a-baef-5eab5c851cf5&DisplayLang=en), but it's still 9.0a on the MS DX home page. (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/default.aspx)

Well, it was reported as official, but when it's official, it'll be on the DX site. So, you may be exactly right. And, especially with DX, I don't advise putting it on, unless you are having trouble with it, until it's been out for a while, and any major bugs are turned up.
