ok.. both FE and SE won't work. i keep getting an illegal operation when i try to play both, ive uninstalled/reinstalled. does anyone have any other suggestions?

EDIT: and i was playing an hour ago

Uninstal then after you uninstall go and delete the Croteam directory. Then do a clean install. Make sure you save your screenshots or any custom skins weapon models etc.
