Whats the max refresh rate? Is it CRT or LCD?

$350 is pretty steep for a monitor that only does that res, unless you have a purpose for such a beast. Is that just a caseless monitor on a frame? I could see if you were going to mount it somewhere semi-permanently, it'd be great for youngs kids' games - most of them are at 800X600 or less. I'd hate to bottle up a nice video card at 800X600, but your desktop icons could be really big!

It's a CRT. Refresh rate is 60hz at the res of 800x600.

Of course I had the brand name wrong (hey, it's me hpc!).

The unit for sale is an ARCADIA PRINCETON Model # AR2.7AV. (29"= 27" viewable)

$349 is a heck of a good price........but I guess the low res and slow refresh rate would make FPS games not worth playing.

Would you agree?

I agree that it is a great price, but not a gaming monitor. ;)

hmmm, really you are thinking of it in the wrong terms.
at 27 inches, it is a small tv, apparently converted
for use as a computer monitor. it may be great for
playing back dvds, but for desktop purposes it
wouldn't be useful at such a low res, and for gaming
purposes you might be looking around too much
to see all the action (and that leads to deaths...)

I can't seem to keep this money from burning a whole in my pocket. :)

I wondered. I had never heard of Pentranic, they make large, limited res screens, among other things, for arcarde use, lab monitors, etc, that are more suited to rack mounting or set in a wall or other enclosure, it would seem, and look like this, a 25"

It&#39;s on eBay&#39;s half.com. I didn&#39;t get it though. I will probably buy a used monitor locally. That way if there&#39;s a problem I can go to the source.........and there wouldn&#39;t be any shipping charges involved (those buggers are heavy).

HPC if you want something fairly big and inexpensive, Bestbuy runs this 19" MAG 986FS on sale occasionally LINK (http://www.maginnovision.com/Products/986FS.asp) @ &#036;129 after the &#036;50 rebate. They work really well and look nice with their Black case and Silver front. Spike owns one and T&#39;hare borrowed one from me at the LAN.
