Weird Probelem

Merkwannabes computer has a weird defect that doesnt let him go onto the internet, but it allows him to play sam online. He asked me to post a thread here for him. He says that internet explorer will load up a page but it will not work. And when he clicks on home, a bunch of popups will come up. But the popups will only show the address but no page.
Im sure this will do great things for the conspiracy that I am merkwannabe, but I dont care really. I dont come here anymore so it doesnt matter.

sounds like winpopup32 in system32 folder--ck to see if he has the virus. also try ie properties and see if he can reset internet explorer to it's defaults.

thx biggd. I reset the defaults on my internet explorer and it works now...... phew. I was getting worried it was permanent. Seriously, thank you very much. :thumbs:

I had long championed Netscape as the superior browser....but at 5.5 and beyond, I think IE has surpassed. It's usually very stable. For e-mail I still use Nestcape, I load up 4.75 just for the e-mail, as I still hate Outhouse.

Disable 3rd party browser extensions in tools/internet options/advanced. This will keep companies from adding toolbars to it and changing your home page when you visit certain sites.

The same thing happened to me yesterday.
Everything worked OK after rebooting.
