Most paint programs will do color gradients (fades). Then it just a matter of writing down the color values.

you draw a box around the part you want to keep, and then click on edit-> crop,
then save. if you edit your post, you can replace the image with a good one.

I think most people are doing the color fades "by hand". Except maybe Jiminator. :P
What I usually do for color fades is do the text in a paint program (I use PS Pro) and then fill the text with a color fade. There is a color fade editor built in. When doing it this way there will be a slight color difference from one side to the other of each letter. I just choose the color that is in the midle of each letter and write down the color code. Then I type it into the name editor manually.
With a tag this long you can get some pretty nice fades. :thumbs:
