In my mb bios it allows me to adjust the voltage to the card. It was set on 1.6 volts but I just dropped it to 1.5 volts. It will allow me to go as high as 1.7 volts. What is the deal with this, should it be higher or lower? I am having issues again with my card and the computer just locking up from device failure (which is this POS card screwing up again.) I swear I will never buy another ATI again.

If you are running at stock speed you should not have to adjust it. You can try bumping it up a notch to see if it helps.

I only overclocked it for benchmarking but put it back to stock a long time ago. It is crazy, my computer will just restart sometimes. Other times it locks up then changes to a 300x400 setting or something and tells me to save my settings and files and to reboot.

What are you nuts. I am not going to reformat because ATI sucks. I will use this POS as a coaster for my Heineken before I do that. :P

um, I would suggest pulling the heatsink off, cleaning it (denatured alcohol)
and the card, and putting it back on with some new paste (arctic silver maybe).

then if it doesn't work, chuck it.

You want a 5900 anyway, you are only trying to convince yourself to splurge....

higher voltages allow for more overclocking flexibility, but may also cause it to
burn up, it just depends on the tolerance of the card.

there may be other cooling solutions, but at that point, i would be too
damn irritated.

lastly, it would make a pretty good GM prize if nothing else... :oooo:

guys, its a p4 system...............

just kidding. i have to agree with you slice about the ati cards. very bad when it comes to drivers and driver updates which will cause stability problems. the card also get very hot. have you ever toched that metal thing that goes around the card in the front? holy crap it will singe scin off your finger. slice how big is your power supply? ck to see each line is giving enough juice to the card.

i will say also this is a great powerfull card but i will stick with nvidia next time around,

My power supply is fine it is an Antec True 480 watt. Overkill really. I am gonna sell my card for $99. If anyone wants it PM me. The card is in in mint condition and is only 5 months old. It is ATI manufactured.

I would buy it just to break it but that would be wrong of my part. I had problems with the Radeon 9700 Pro that I bought. The first day if woulden't work and I worked with it and still woulden't work so I took it back and have been mad at ATI since.

Thanks alot!

That is dirt cheap! If I had another puter I'd tell ya I'd take it, but I already have one, no probs yet. ATI must like AMD or something :shifty: :P
