I can't believe that no one has replied to this Thread. But I could not agree with it more, it draws a comparison between politicians and the capitalist’s families of those who died in terrorism. Everyone feels sorry for what happened but there are people who are gaining financially off the results, or praying on the system. But it can't be changed because those in office elected or not, have the same way of personal thinking. I think that it should just make you appreciate your military that much more. As for an official picking up a weapon you have to look to human nature, besides the occasional politician most of them are in it for careers, a way to earn a living for their families. Where as the soldier is fighting for his country because its what he believes in and no amount of pay or lack there of could change that. Although there are exceptions in both lines of work for the most part its all down to the values and beliefs of the people around us.

"The question is not whether we will die, but how we will live."

i agree jesusfish. i am abit shocked that many have not replied. maybe it's because i posted it and some really look at my point of view strangely. that's ok and i can understand others oppinion but it is this kind of stuff that makes my blood boil. i am also from ny and most people from ny are a bit out spoken. being outspoken in a forum really doesnt help any and probably gets frowns from other members. i for one can understand that but i feel if 1 person can open there eyes to what's goingon than i still accomplished something.

I wonder if the US had a required military stint like Israel does, if that would change things...

PSST: Check out Michigan's governor (democrat & female!!!) LANSING -- Gov.-elect Jennifer Granholm says neither she nor Lt. Gov.-elect John Cherry will accept a salary increase in light of the state's tight finances.

In a letter sent Monday to the State Officers Compensation Commission, Granholm said that given the budget crisis the state now faces, the pair won't seek or accept a pay raise for 2005-06.

You don't see that happen at the Federal level too often, if at all... Maybe they should take a cue from our governor!! :hmmm:

I have to say that while I don't always agree with Rush on a spiritual level, he hit the nail on the head with this one. Seems like entitlement and "it's not my fault" could be the themes of our nation. And as far as money and congress goes....I don't think there are too many that are confused about how congress has handled the nations money historically. It really is sad when you compare the numbers like that though. Shame on our leaders for allowing this....and shame on the folks that don't take the time to vote responsibly.

the reason these politicians get away with it is because many people ignore the facts because life is stressfull enough. this greed will destroy us as it is the families that are being destroyed.
