Yeah I know there's sites for this and all but I just wanna know if any of you have got the infamous Sony PS2 Disk Read Error and if so how soon. I bought my PS2 on the launch and I didn't get it till about a year later but I went to some site and took their advice on what might help and one of the things worked and my PS2 is back in bussiness.

I got it once about 5 months after I got my PS2, but I never got it again...

I will never by PS2, but if I had to buy a console, it would be that. Puters RULE!

Yup got it once then haven't seen it for a while. That's the way it starts. I dunno I'm pretty pissed about it my game cube never gives me any problems. :(

Wow you've had since the launch and you've never seen it? That's actually kinda conforting to hear. But let me ask you this did you ever watch DVD's on it or did you use a player to do so cause I heard that if you watch a lot of DVD's you can burn out the lens faster. Still that's just what I read somewhere. Also dust is a factor I know. But glad to hear that nothings happend.

Thats what mine has become my dvd player...dont play many games on it anymore since i have the other two systems and a pc....(which i cant find my dvd software for)... :evil:..but i had not heard of this problem till you brought it up hopefully it last out till summer when i get a real dvd player

I hate it, I used to be able to watch DVD's fine on it and I bought it the very morning it was released.I watched a lot of DVDs on it and now after all that time it says Disc Read Error when the Disc is perfectly clean! I hate it :mad: :mad:

[color=green:63237d31c0]Hello there! I've had that problem with the PS2 and the thing that has helped me is to run a dvd cleaning disc through it. after a couple of passes through it , it works fine. Well...at least for me it has fixed it. Hope it helps ya'. :D [/color:63237d31c0]

Hey Herbus, glad you made it to GM.

As for the CDs, if it has a scratch, try using toothpaste on it. Put some on the scratch and then rub it all over with your fingers in circles. It works like really find sand paper and will take a scratch out. It works, I have done it before, but not on anything too deep. Also, if a puter CD, there are ways to slow your read head way down, and not read ahead, that works too.
