What new features would you like to see here?

Every once in a while I like to see what you guys would like added to the site. So here is your chance to tell me what you want in the next version of GameMecca. This isn't just about forum features, but the website on a whole. What direction would you like us to take? Should we become more news oriented or continue being community based? Give me any and all suggestions on anything.

maybe that would be pretty cool, and maybe some new skins :P

I'd like to see a expanded download section. One that had some demos and the patches for the most played games here at GM.

I'd like to see a way for the clans to have irc chat rooms available off of their forums as well. I have seen this at other clan pages.

A way that mod's and admins can CC PM's for tournament and other info that needs to be sent to multiple people. Sending 15 PM's for tourney password :bandhead:

Forum wise I would like to see a chat room and a little box on the main forum page telling you how many people are in the chat. Also more smilies, quick reply box, and the online/offline feature in which while you are reading a thread it says under the persons name if they are online or not.

Site wise a biweekly or monthly newsletter email letting us know about updates would be cool. Links to patches and updates for games. Maybe a picture of the day or funny comic of the day on the main page. This might get more people to check the main page more often if they know there is going to be something funny to read.

A large download section would be great. Broken down into game sections with various patches, mods, maps, skins etc. Instead of searching other gaming sites for these it would really be cool to have them right here.

I would love an IRC chat channel for GM. wub

Also, this is something I've thought about and thought this might be a benifit if GM had this......I had gotten an e-mail from a certain forum wishing me a happy birthday. I thought that was a cool thing to have. People that may have registered here and forgotten about it might return from a simple 'hello and Happy Birthday' I myself was really suprised to get it and thought it was such a cute idea. I'm not sure if it can be done or not though.

I just realized that most of us just listed features we would like to see. Sal wanted to know what we wanted to become as a whole. I personally like it being community based. I think that's what attracted me here and pulled me in to stay. I've registered at many forums and had that 'business as usual' feeling and felt like I was just a member number. Here it's very different. GM is causal and fun and I think that's what brings us all back and what makes this place so addicting. I think it's possible to have a little of both though. Increasing the download sections like Pure said and things of that nature would keep this place a little upbeat so we dont look like a big gaming chatroom.

What would be nice and stays with the community based arena would be something like the old MPlayer and SeeSaw websites. Chat capabilities combined with webcams. You can type chat, voice chat and run a webcam, all at once.

As for features, I think it would be nice if we could private message on a larger scale, ie., I could send one single message to all members of the Villians clan without having to send out 30 messages individually!

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. We definitely want to keep the site community based. I don't want to move in the direction of having a dozen news items posted a day. We just don't have the manpower or willpower to do that. In any case there are already a ton of sites that do that.

You'll start seeing new features in a couple of weeks when we upgrade our forum software. Things like quick reply are included in the update. I'll keep everyone's suggestions in mind as we go on.

IMO, Gamemecca does not need to get into porn for a couple of reasons. 1. GM is doing just fine as it is with the current gaming theme. 2. Porn is more than available elsewhere, and along with porn are pop ups. 3. Having porn here would draw the wrong crowd, although I realize that we already have a few freaks as it is&#33; :unsure:

It is more for material that your delicate sensitive fragile young minds should not be exposed to.
Obviously there are tons of outlets for porn through the internet, and GM is not about that.

If an adult section was to be created, I would suggest that only known older members can
nominate other lesser known members to get in. Sort of a buddy system for us old geezers...
