The stuff i have now is factor 102 plate 99% quality. The effective rating is around 132. Is epic armor better then that?

I bet a suit of AF102 plate with 100 quality is the best. You would think that the Epic suit would be the best. Especially all the crap you have to go through to get it.

If someone is playing all day at work today, *cough* Slash *cough*, they could ask the alliance for me. :oooo:

Short answer, No.

Long answer...

Epic armor is darn good armor considering that you get it for free. It is probably worth a few plat (for plate/chain, less for cloth) and is usually worn until you can buy a full suit of high quality (99-100) player crafted armor.

If you already have the high quality player crafted armor, you could get it spellcrafted and it would be either equal to or better than Epic armor. Keep in mind that AF102 armor (AF51 for cloth) at high qualities is usually very expensive.

In addition, the cost for spellcrafting armor that high is expensive as well. To get a complete set of maxed out quality plate all spellcrafted to the limit, you can expect to pay anywhere from 10-20p. The cost for a suit of 99% qual is considerably less (~3-5p).

Hope that answers your question.

My 102 AF is 132 Effective AF. is 100% quality much better then what I have now?

Also is the Epic suit player specific or can I pass it along to someone that needs it?

The epic armor can be passed on, however, it is class specific. So only another armsman will be able to use yours. Keep in mind that if the armor you are already wearing is already spellcrafted, you may not be able to optimize it for your particular spec (ie. it may have +polearm which you wouldn't want).

I would suggest settling on a final spec before starting to spellcraft your endall suit of armor.

My current armor does no have any spellcrafting on it. Only my helm does.

Sweet. You should be able to rock da hizzouse then. Download that calculator and try to configurate some magical madness. I think the stats for the epic armor is posted online (somewhere :WTF: ). Compare your configuration to the epic to see if you're getting your money's worth.

On a side note Death, how tangible is the difference in a 99 vs. MP piece/set of armor? (in effectiveness and tangible results- not cost)

Would really like to know this myself. I know the 100% stuff is a hell of a lot more expensive.

Heh. Sorry it took me a while to get back to this thread. Basically, a full suit of 99% qual SCd to match your specific spec should be better than Epic.

Specifically, I would expect bonuses on the order of 10-15% more than the Epic gear (this is based on result I got with no overcharging for my cleric gear).

The cost for MP (masterpiece / 100% qual) stuff is expensive for a reason. There is only a 1/50 chance to make it for each combine. This means that you can sometimes do 100 combines and be out 10s of plat and still not have a MP. Other times, they just happen.

Another reason that MP stuff is worth so much is that you could expect a 20-30% increase in magical stats for a full set of them vs. Epic gear. This assumes overcharging (imbuing past normal limits -- means you could blow up your armor and/or your spellcrafter :P). This is extremely costly and only worth it if you are absolutely hardcore into RvR.

Hope that helps.
