Does anyone know if there is free Printer/scanner software? If so please post a linkeroo! I can't get my scanner to work.

**Has to be compatable with XP, otherwise I could have used the old software I had.

What brand and model number of scanner/printer do you have?
Have you tried going to the scanner vendor's web site to look for driver upgrades?

Well, its a hp office jet 685 Scanner Fax/Copier/ and Printer.. I have the cd, but it was made for windows 1998. The printer actually works fine without software, but I can't scan and I have been meaning to fix that for some time now. The cd says it is highly recommended not to install this cd because it is not tested for xp.. I don't want any more problems than I already have... Know what I mean ;)

doesn't XP have the drivers built in?? I've got an old school scanner and it just comes up as "USB Scanner".... or something totally generic like that... seems to work just fine

It probably won't be able to scan. That printer is older and not completely compatible with XP. I had the same problem with a HP K60 office jet and I couldn't scan stuff.

I think these are the drivers you need to get your scanner to work in XP.
