Hey guys,
Nice forum you got over here.

OK I've been pondering whether or not I should buy DAOC. I have Neverwinter Nights already, and I consider myself to be a pretty top-notch player. I'm a Level 11 Druid right now(not sure if there are druids in DAOC..there are only 20 total levels), and I am doing very well. My character is very well rounded, and he is very difficult to counter. Those that have the game can relate to this: I have Daelen Red Tiger as my henchen(DRT is a barbarian with a nasty double axe), my animal companion(druids get an animal companion) is the Dire Wolf, and I always have a summoned Dire Tiger(what a bad ass!) by my side. All in all, I feel that I can handle myself quite well in this game(although it is by far the most addicting game I have ever played in my life, because Bioware did an absolutely ridiculous job on creating this game..it is so detailed you will not believe it is an actual game).

The reason I am asking if I should get it is because Neverwinter Night's multiplayer is not a mass-multiplayer, which tends to be more fun because of the "work as a team" aspect. Only 3 players play online at one time for NWN, and I think that it would be cooler to try out a mass-multiplayer game. Plus, I think that I could really help you guys out(and I want to!).

I need to know specifically what game you guys use though(any expansion packs?) obviously. Also, are druids in DAOC?

OK, if you are married, engaged or just have a significant other I would be very carefull about buying this game. There are all kinds of mobs that will kill you very quickly but Wife aggro seems to be the worst thing going. :w00t: :w00t:

Seriously, this is a great game. Outlaws of Darkness is a great guild and almost always has 5 - 10 players or more online at most times. If you buy it, buy the gold version. It already includes the Shrouded Isles expansion pack. It sells for about 30.00.

Only Druids I have seen have been mobs and I killed them. Sorry! :wootrock: :wootrock:

Hope to see you soon.

If I do get it(so far there have been 3 out of 3 very positive reccommendations), how would I be able to help you guys? What specifically are you lacking in?

You should just do some research and pick a race/class that interests you. We have a pretty dynamic group with most classes covered. Everyone is more than happy to help out with advice and some startup gold/equipment.

Very nice it makes you want to play.

The game is the best and the unity you get from playing together
is the best part of the game.

Now I will go and play thx to Slash for the movie.

How are you guys doing on your server right now?

Are you dominating? Are you getting dominated? Or is it well balanced?

I heard from a friend that there is a fee for playing online? Is this true?

Can you build a player up to level 50 without going online(then I can join instead of wasting all that time)?

The server is fairly well balanced. Yes, you must pay to play- they have to maintain the servers. Getting to 50 is the fun part!!! You can't start with a lvl 50 character unless you buy one on ebay.

I understand that getting to level 50 is fun, that's not what I'm asking. What I'm asking is, is it possible to get a character to level 50 by using offline methods only, and not playing online. This way, I can join you guys when I am ready, and not waste money with online fees.

Also, I read that there is such a thing as battle druids? Check out this link --> http://camelotvault.ign.com/thegame/guides...ttledruid.shtml (http://camelotvault.ign.com/thegame/guides/Hibernia/battledruid.shtml)

No, not possible, DAOC is online only.

So you guys play in the "camelot type" only(I think it's called Albion?)?

Grrrrr that sucks.

I say that because I wanted to be a druid Machine.

What do you like about the druid? Chances are there is a class in the Albion realm that is similar enough to suit your fancy. Whatever the case, when you join (and you will....it will come for you), pick a better name than 999999... k? :P

LOL death.

I don't know if I'm going to get this game though. So far there are 4 things working agaisnt me getting it(and only the fun aspect working for me getting it):

1) There is an online fee.

2) There are no druids in the realm that you guys play on.

3) There is no desire/need for another member; all classes are taken care of in your guys "Alliance"(as I think it is called..I mean your group).

4) I am a college student and I have to keep things balanced. Having an addiction on a game will seriously hurt me.

But if you guys can give me another solid reason(or reasons) for joining I would love to hear them.

P.S. I like the druid because of the summoning, healing, animal pet, and the nature aspect.

P.P.S. Thank you guys for taking the time to read my posts and answer me sensibly. I appriciate all of your comments!

Cabalist cast and have pets. A sorcerer can charm pets and cast. either of these would be fun for you.

And the Gold Edition of the game is only $19 now and the first month is free. It would be worth the $19 to at least give it a try.

Buy cheaper beer. That way you can have both.

There #4 not a problem anymore :D

#4 rings true for me. My GPA suffered the first semester I got this game and spent waaaay too much time playing it. However, assuming you can keep things balanced, it's worth the risk. :D

Really, the classes in camelot are very similar. The druid class would be comparable to the Friar class in the albion realm. Both have buff and healing abilites. They both wear leather armor. There are a few differences in spell types, but other than that, ba-da-bing-ba-da-boom. Friar = Druid. We'll even call you a druid if you don't mind us killing you every so often.

And you WILL get this game. Only a matter of time....

You guys will know if I get this game. I'll be the guy with the really annoying name that you will constantly be hearing about. ;) ;)
