First I plan to get a Bachelors Degree from Grand Valley State University in Computer Science.

And then I want to go to Westwood College for Game Design.

You'll never go wrong having a degree; I'm not sure about Game Design but Computer Science will go far for you..

Computers are just a fad. Compressed eggshells as a building material - that's where the future is!

Patent Pending. :shifty:

Good plan as long as you have no problem moving. Most game companies are in CA so if you plan on moving out there for a job eventually, go for it. If you plan on staying in the "enchanted mitten" with the rest of us then you may want to rethink since there are no game jobs here.

IMO, go to college, take your core courses, and if you change your mind along the way, that is fine. Continue your education, change your major, but don't lower your standards. Strive for excellence and you will succeed. Just take one class at a time, and before you know it, you'll meet your goals. Good luck.

Fantum is right on the money! At your age, you will probably change your mind a couple of times before you get out of school. Make sure the field you choose isn't to limitted, you'll need lots of options when you get into the working world

Good luck.

Both these guys are right on, PJ... One tip, though... You know I'm from your neck of the woods so I highly suggest you save some money by doing your 1st two years at GRCC... Quite honestly, I thought I got some better learning done there than I ever did at WMU... GRCC is a great school and they have some great Computer Programming Instructors ...

I kinda thought about opening my own company in MI...and eventually get bought out by EA just like everyone else.
