you may need to do a repair install, should keep all your files & stuff,
assumes you have a regular xp and not a branded one, which likely won't work...

You will most likely have to reinstall winblows. Every mb upgrade I have ever done I had to reinstall. You won't lose your files but some of your programs won't work. Any firewall software or virus software will need to be reinstalled. Some other programs may also need to be reinstalled, like MS Word etc.

The one thing I love about XP is it finds and setup most all your hardware.
I would try it before you do anything. I think it may suprise you. I know this because
I have swopped HD's from one machine to the other and it worked a few differant times  Note Raid is a litle tricky only got lucky once

are you upgrading from an nforce board and going to nfoce3? are you upgrading from via board to the viakt800? you should be ok but i would suggest a clean install regardless of any upgrade. we all know windows does not get rid of what it's supposed to and in the future you may lose data due to the corruption bug in xp

also, don't be a hump and hold out on us to know what board you are getting :P

i swear i have been holding out due to the price of the chips but it's getting hard because i am a hardware freak. the only thing that really is a great deal is the motherboards which has every feature you could want and also the hypertransport. damn you are not helping me and would like to know how you make out. put me in your msn messenger so we can chat. i would like to give you something ;) to benchmark your systems that most people do not have. i will give it to you aslong as you send me report

When I swapped mobo's I didn't have to reinstall anything in Windows although I know I probably should have but I got no problems whatsoever so far and this was in August.
