denail of service attacks

my server has been targeted repeatedly,and i am sick of it.3 times in one night? i am shutting it down till i get it armored and a sentry for it.LOL what the hell can i do?is this a port spoof? my server is full of names with the same global id,and nuthing going on.i will post soon as i get her up and running. i am open to preventative ideas folks :) e mail me with any good ones.k? :wave:

DOS attackes are usually based on the operating system. Especially windows. First, you should make sure that no ports are open to traffic on that server with the exception of what UT needs to run. Second, you should make sure that your OS in up to date with patches and all that good stuff.
