my sister inlaw calls me outside to tell me there is an injured bird near her car. i go out there and try to get the bird which appears to have broke a wing. poor thing is hobbling around and scared when i picked it up. it went into the bushes but do not know what to do with the damn thing and i feel bad for it. i try to call an animal hospital but the just have ansering machine on (in which i called them a bunch of a-holes for not picking up) so i have to let the poor thing die in the bushes in front of the house. should i just kill the thing now and take them out of it's misery or just leave it alone. i hate to see an animal suffer and it is really pissing me off.

it figures all i hear outside is birds chirping like it's the babies of the damn thing. i cant believe this has put me into a bad mood.

:hmmm: Sorry BIGG, this sounds like a real moral delemma and I am not too good at those (just ask the wife : ) Personally if it looks like it is serious enough that it will eventually die you might consider the Kevorkian and help it out of it's misery. On the other hand it could look worse than it really is and could make it.....

On the lighter side just grab your shotty and gib the He11 out of it!!

Hehe. Time to buy some birdseed. :P

I found a baby squirrel once crawling around in the yard. Almost ran over the poor thing with the lawnmower. It was so young it barely had hair. Searched around on the internet for the right formula mix to feed it, ended up building a big-ass cage (and I mean big) with tree limbs in it and a nesting box, and set it free as an adult (or almost) 4 months later.

I'd say your best bet would be to give it food and water until you can contact someone. You might be able to have a vet help it, but it's gonna cost you. You may just be told to put it back outsie and let nature take it's course. But that's not so easy. If it were me I'd probably end up taking it to the vet, having it's wind bound so it will heal, and then take care of it until it can fly again. I'm such a softy. :)

On the other hand if it is injured badly enough it may just die, but at least if you have it inside then some cat won't find it and tear it to pieces. Slowly. I hate cats.

well i called everyone but keep getting answering machines. where the hell is an activist when you need one. i have this thing in a box and just toasted some bread and crumbled it up. i do not know what the hell i should do with it.

if anyone has any idea what to do for a bird it would be appreciated. the thing looks scared with its eyes and i just feel bad for it. i dont think the bird looks to bad but definetly hurt.

Farm kids learn early - when you get to that point that the animal is beyond repair, kill it quickly and mercifully.

A wild bird that's injured probably won't eat or drink in captivity...

Sure it's wing is broken?

We have a wild bird and animal rescue here in the Florida Keys. They are not for profit and rely on donations. Maybe you can call your local animal shelter and ask them if there is such a thing where you live. Or at least what to do to treat it.

Yeah good job!!! But if you decide to kill it make sure you name it Kerri...that was my xwife's name. It would make my day go a little easier!!

well, it's 10:31 and i decided to put the bird back outside around 7 pm. he is still out there in the leaves under the bushes. he was to scared with me and in the box. he didnt eat and i decided to just let him go because he was flipping out in the box. i am keeping an eye on him and hope by some miracle he heals with just a bruised wing.
