View Full Version : C'mon guys, start playing Serious Sam again
What ever happened to the good old times we had in this game. I remember when I first started playing back in December the servers were always full and loaded :jammin: I used to get my ass owned by guys from mercs, gods, outlaws, cf, doa, villains, dwf, etc all the time :w00t: but it was a lot of fun seeing you all play back then :thumbs: After all this is a game that you can easily get into and start playing and it’s great for relieving stress and tension :jammin: Who cares who the best at this game is, there are only top players at their time but no best player ;) We should all be playing these games for fun and enjoyment like the way it was meant to be played and should have been played :cool: After all from the looks of things here this is the game that brought you all here into GM including myself so dont forget that :thumbs: So what if the netcode/lag is terrible, you all beared up with it in the past and played with it :drink: Remember we all have experienced lag and may continue to get it from time to time but it shouldn't be a big deal even the random F9's :unsure: C’mon guys lets get the servers filling and rocking again one more time. :jammin: It was fun and exciting in the past and no doubt will be fun again if we all start playing again :thumbs: C’mon Outlaws, Gods, Doa, Mercs, Villains, DWF, CF and to the rest of the clans out there, lets do it again for the NEW YEAR, one more time :wootrock: :wootrock: :wootrock:

Sam died, everyone got sick of the netcode, it's not worth the frustration to install that POS game until they have the "patch" out.

I think I remeber lots of games with you in the past Jim. I used to play as GODS Slice or Valor. Most GODS have moved on from Sam now, including myself. We may get back in to the next release of Sam if it proves itself worthy.

yup, like $12.95 a month, if you pay by month, cheaper if you pay for a block, like 3 months at a time.
Just think, $12.95 a month, if you play 1 hour a day, assuming 30 days a month, that is like $.43 an hour. Play 2 hours a day, cut that in half. It's very cheap, and once you try it and play with the O of D, well you will be hooked. I could name a few people that said they never pay to play. Well they are playing and having a blast. :jammin:
Oh, and updates, like all the time. The last couple weeks, been like one a week. They just released an expansion pak too, it's uber! Eat that Sam and it's netcode :P

I never played a game anything like this in my life and thought I would just try it out for the 30 days free. Now, I cant stop playing it :bandhead:
Sam is still really cool IMO, but DAOC is so time consuming. You cant just log on for a 'quick game' like sam and I JUST NEED TO FILL ONE MORE BUBBLE! :rolleyes:

It kinda sucks that the SS players can't start a thread about Sam anymore without people jumping in and trashing Sam. Or having the thread ad-spammed by DAOC junkies. Do you guys get a discount on your monthly fees if you get someone new to sign up? :oooo:
I couldn't care less about DC, or UT, or DAOC, or whatever. But I don't trash these other games and I don't post in the DAOC threads trying to get DAOCers to play another game.

I am sorry that we enjoy the game so much that we like to talk about it a lot. It is quite addictive and a lot of fun. It's like a chat room and gaming all in 1. We usually have 15-20 OoD members on at a time during primetime. I'm sorry that some of you can not afford 42 cents per day to play.

Also some of us only have a hour here and 20 min there to play and from what I hear, in DAOC that's not going to cut it.
Personally I need speed to play a game. Even when I saw the Painkiller movie and the way the enemy moved, I said BAH! Sorry, I'll stick to UT, UT 2003, Q-3 and SSSE. At least with UT I get speed, strategy, tricky movements and the chance to hang with my friends. :thumbs:
But I wish you could understand why some of us are getting annoyed with the DAOC recruiting going on. Just about all of GM knows it's popular, we don't need constant invitations to play all the time. Also, to me, it seams odd that all these different clan players play in the Guild that basically is a Outlaw guild, to me, it looks like you're in 2 clans :WTF: Then again, I never did understand GM clans anyway.
DAOC is a clan killer. DS and Villians seems to have resisted so far, but it has put great stress on DOA and TGR. I have even seen some Outlaws members lament the loss of a great deal of that clan to this game.
And yes, I am a bit annoyed by the evangalistic approach that the DAOC people have taken in their recruiting efforts.
Don't judge Painkiller multiplayer by the single player movies. I believe that the multiplayer servers will have the ability to set playing speed similar to UT. Don't quote me on that though.

As far as an explaination on the whole 'guild' thing. I said the same thing myself before I started. Clan-Guild=Same thing. :WTF: In DAOC you cant just put tags under your name like in FPS. If you were to play you couldn't just be Downward Spiral without a substatial amount of people to start your own guild. You literally have to bring the members to a 'guild registrar' in the game and register the guild and members. That's why we are all in the OoD. When your character first spawns into the game you are immediatly placed in a guild. Kind of like a 'starter' one. If you are invited to another then you quit the starter guild to join an established.
There are also many, many other people in this guild that have never even been to GM. This guild is massive and not a private guild just for us GMers.
Not sure if I wrote that clear enough for you to understand. :unsure:

I think you explained it pretty good Sepra. :thumbs: In another way, like I think Machine posted, it's like playing games, and being able to chat with other people, a lot of them are on GM, and there are many that aren't.

Clan killer, maybe, GM unity, definately. Isn't that what GM is about? Not sure what you mean by stress, but I have said it before, and will again, games grow old, and there becomes a time when you have to find something new. What if you are the only one in your clan playing a different game, and trying to get others to play it and they just don't like it? Wouldn't you hang around people that like the game more then those that don't like the game?

How is that different then someone hounding you in sam to join your clan, or trying to get someone to join your clan? Clans in a FPS is like segegration, where as in and RPG, such as DAOC, it's about unity as a whole, not clans.

I would like to thank all of you for your entertaining thread.
Personally, I don't care whether you play DAOC or Sam or anything else. Term got it right when he said to play what you enjoy. That's what gaming is all about: taking timeout and going into another world.
DAOC isn't for everyone. However, I once made remarks similar to Sirc's. "It's not my thing" or "I need faster action". While it is much more of a time investment, the payoff is that you can start where you left off rather than starting over every time (like in an FPS game).
For those of you who don't like us recruiting for DAOC, consider that it is equally annoying to be told how wonderful a game is that we played the snot of last year.
Whatever your opinion, keep posting because this is hilarious.

Yes, Chao is playing, but he's not missing from our forums or practices. Whether or not he pays for the monthly fee or not is yet to be seen. And he does say the game is addictive, but he also plans on representing {DS} at Lanwar in the UT 2003 tournaments, so I doubt that he'll dissapear from {DS} like other clan members have in their clans.
Sirc, as far as Painkiller goes, I wasn't realy judging it yet, I'm frustrated that the FPS's that have been coming out have been lame. It didn't help that I played the Judge dread demo before seeing the PK movie either. When Painkiller's demo comes out that I can try online, I'll judge it then ;)

Yes, Chao is playing, but he's not missing from our forums or practices. Whether or not he pays for the monthly fee or not is yet to be seen. I just found something that I'm enjoying, that's all. There are thousands of games out there and people are gonna play these games. I'm still on the forum daily. I just dont spam 200 posts a day anymore. I dont think using my time doing that was any better than gaming. :WTF: I answer all questions that need to be answered and I'm still here to help and support CF. I dont think anyone has dissapeared, just found something fun and want to play it.

I want some input. Respect what everybody wants to play, enjoy and have fun.
Not everybody likes the same game. For me just an hour behind the screen with action. No thinking just shooting. And uptill now sam is still addictive to me with all his hangups.
I am an FPS'er and no RGP'er.
