MYTHIC'S "DARK AGE OF CAMELOT" FREE IN JANUARY ISSUE OF COMPUTER GAMING WORLD
Computer Gaming World's First DVD Cover Disc Features Full Version of the Best-Selling Online Role-Playing Game
FAIRFAX, VA - December 1, 2003 - Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of the award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game "Dark Age of Camelot," today announced that, for the first time, a one-week trial copy of the critically-acclaimed "Dark Age of Camelot" is available free with the January issue of Computer Gaming World.
"It's hard to believe that it is two years since the original release of 'Dark Age of Camelot,'" said Mark Jacobs, president of Mythic Entertainment. "We decided that it was time to celebrate by offering people the chance to try out the game for free."
A magazine dedicated to providing sophisticated PC gamers with reviews, previews, strategies, and a view of the culture that surrounds computer gaming, Computer Gaming World distributed 311,000 copies of "Dark Age of Camelot" in its first DVD cover disc. The January issue featuring the disc is now shipping to subscribers, and will be on newsstands nationwide by December 2. The "Dark Age of Camelot" trial disc allows one week of free access and features the latest version of the game that includes the Foundations housing expansion. The trial disc does not include Shrouded Isles or the recently-released Trials of Atlantis.
The latest expansion pack for "Dark Age of Camelot," "Trials of Atlantis," has just been named the #1 Selling Online Game and #1 Selling Game by NPD Intellect Market Tracking (www.intelectmt.com) for the week ending November 1, 2003.
About "Dark Age of Camelot"
"Dark Age of Camelot" is a next generation massively-multiplayer online role-playing game, and features state-of-the-art 3D-accelerated graphics with multiple class and race combinations, a robust trade skill system, and the most comprehensive player Guild system in any MMORPG. The world of "Dark Age of Camelot" features three Realms at war - Midgard, Hibernia and Albion. Based on the mythologies of Viking-era Scandinavia, ancient Ireland, and Arthurian Britain, respectively, the once-peaceful Realms began to battle after the death of King Arthur. Players quest, fight monsters, form guilds and eventually gain enough power to defend their Realm from enemies.
Since its release, "Dark Age of Camelot" has received critical acclaim, including Online Game of the Year by Computer Games Magazine and Computer Gaming World, and PC Game of the Year by USA Today and MSNBC. With climbing subscription numbers and unmatched customer support, "Dark Age of Camelot" has proven to be an enduring success.
