DON'T DO IT: A new California law taking effect January 1 allows moviegoers to make citizen arrests if they see someone in a theater with a recording device illegally copying movies.

I can't verify the source, but Hollywood apparently doesn't want to suffer the same fate as the record industry.

That is going to be pretty difficult to police. In 1985 when I was in Japan, they would have New Release movies recorded from the audience chairs for sale on the street corners. You could get any title you wanted but the quality was not the best. Every now and then, you might see someone get up and walk by the screen. :rofl:

ummm, yeah, most of the ripped movies I have seen are like from overseas, with subtitles.... :wacko:

Japan was a strange place too. From what I understand is, they didn't have any copywrite laws so anything was recordable. But don't get caught bringing in a playboy book, let alone any graphic pron! And as I recall, you could go to a Japanese pharmacy and buy codine over the counter! Crazy. :wacko:
