I think it's required that children go to school until there like 16 or so, and I also believe that we the US actually does have a Children's Bill of Rights.

Yeah schools can be to strick also!! They can only miss 1.5 days per nine weeks here unless you have a Doctors excuse...so in other words you pretty much have to go to the doctor if you miss a day!! Was not this bad last year. I mean sometimes you feel bad but not bad enough to go to the doctor. Thank god I am not in school anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Sexy is probably refering to something she heard on the news or in an
article....

It would help Sexy if you posted what it is....

there may be an interpretation misunderstanding....

Glad to see you Sexy !!

I think she is referring to this: Convention on the Rights of the Child (http://www.unicef.org/crc/crc.htm)

"Convention on the Rights of the Child
• Ratified by 192 countries
• Only two countries have not ratified: the United States and Somalia"

Also interesting to read... Rights of children must be respected (http://web.amnesty.org/library/Index/ENGAMR510582003?open&of=ENG-USA)

Sexy,
I think the reason that the United States hasn't 'adopted' this
program is because the US already has a Bill of Rights, within the
Constitution. Plus, with our many laws and legislation, I am sure
that the majority of what Unicef is pushing is already covered.

I mean, we are talking about a country where you can sue your own
parents, c'mon.

And to quote a paragraph within the website, I thought I would share this......

"The Convention reflects this global consensus and, in a very short period of time, it has become the most widely accepted human rights treaty ever. It has been ratified by 192 countries; only two countries have not ratified: The United States and Somalia, which have signalled their intention to ratify by formally signing the Convention."
