I just acquired a copy of Max Payne and have been playing it for a little while. Its pretty bizzare, but the graphics are outstanding. The matrix effect is a bit over-done though. It gets old kinda fast.

Has anyone else played this game?

Yes, i enjoyed the game a lot but it didnt run very well, :(.

It takes a lot of graphics card/processor to run it. I had everthing maxed out and it seemed a little laggy. It does seem a bit buggy too. I had to clean boot to get it to run, and when I quit the game it took a while before Windows completely redrew the desktop.

Dude Max Payne was an awesome game, I played it all the way through on the first two difficulties. It ran great on my machine with everything maxed but i only played at 1024x768.I loved the bullet time and shoot dodge effects. Also later on when you get the sniper rifle there is another cool effect for that too :D

LOL! I got killed in the subway and just quit for now. I'll get back to it. You ran everything maxed out? Dang. I must have something set wrong. Or maybe your have a better machine than I do.

The 3rd person was a little hard to get used to again. I've been playing SS and AVP2 1st person. I also haven't figured out all the controls yet. I know how to shoot and open doors. That's about it. :D

But it is tweaked out as much as possible.

Well, yes, that goes without saying. :P

So far it seems like every person you meet is trying to kill you. I was kind of expecting a plot. Or maybe all subways are like that. :roll: :D

The story was very good. Just give it some time. As for the playing I enjoy 3rd person much more than 1st so maybe that is why I didn't have any difficulty with it.

The dream levels are just horrendously ... umm, not cool. The rest was pretty fun though.

A maze of jump puzzles. How thrilling. They aren't really difficult, but I just found it kind of cheap and really boring after all the crazy slo-mo diving dual smg madness. So they just annoyed me greatly and I quick saved like a bitch to get through them as painlessly as possible.

I thought it was to short, and had no replay at all, the whole game is at nite, everything is shades,,,, I spent $54.00 on that game, I had more fun playing dues ex, and alot more fun playing jedi knight II, and the MP in jedi knight II is good, the only thing max payne has going is a MOD MOVIE, yes a full movie coming out for max payne, it is a mod, bummer now I can't find the mag with the link for the mod, it will be kinda like matrix and final fantasy, only thing the game max payne is good for after the 10/15 hours max of gameplay you will see in it...... :)

I thought the game was great except for those irritating dream levels. The graphics and the bullet time feature were spectacular. I did feel it was too short and of course being nonmultiplayer game it has little replay value. The last level was my favorite as it is pretty intense- you are fighting 15-20 guys at once. My wife was disgusted with that first intro with the dead baby in the crib, of course she was pregnant at the time. There was talk about an expansion multiplayer but they decided integrating bullet time over a multiplayer platform just would not work.

Ok maybe I forgot about the dream levels :lol: Just quicksave alot they are pretty short. The rest of the game was awesome though :D

It was a great game but a bit short.

I hate games like that. I hated the floating platforms in SS:SE. Too much Banjo Kazooie for me. I'm becoming less and less inclined to continue playing Max Payne now.

Have you ever listened to someone explain or tell you about their dream? The dream levels in MAX Payne were just about that much fun to play. Other than those levels it was loads of fun.

I really liked Max Payne. The bullet time was a nice touch, and the atmosphere and plotline were good.

I thought this game was very cool and so very much enjoyed the ever darkening mood and atmosphere throughout. The narrative, graphic novel type, cut scenes were a cool and fresh way to load from level to level. Yes yes ok the dream sequences were tedious if anything but they pass quickly. The you versus any opposing force you can think of geared plot makes for so much non stop killing you just gotta love it. I especially liked wasting the "V" junkies, LOL LOL.

Yeah, I'd like to play it, but can't stomach $50 for it. I know I saw it on special for $5, so when I see it for $10 or so, I'll grab it. I DLed the whole game in ISO form, unpacked it and burned it, and it was the Italian version! After hearing too much foreign language, I abandoned it. Cuidado!!
