I reformatted my machine last week and ever since, when I press the scroll up or down buttons on my MX700, I hear a small squeak through my headphones. It happens when I use my wheel too. Any ideas?

really though, sounds strange, i would suspect some type of grounding issue, but don't know what that could be. do the mouse & speaker cords cross? maybe try a different usb port or something...

I have noticed that when I have played sam. So to take care of it, I don't play sam. I have heard it before, and well since I got my audigy 2 card, I haven't heard it, but I have only played a few games of sam here and there to kill time and for a good laugh.

Maybe something interfering on that frequecy or something. Not sure what Hz RF is on, but I hope it isn't 2.4GHz. So much stuff on that now

hmmm, ck to see if the mouse cord is close to speakers. it could be some interfernce in your pc area. ck to see if you have the same problem with a different mouse. another guess would be trying another usb port. disable the midi port and game port from onboard sound because i doubt you use it. comports also if you do not use them also. i have expericed this before and was due to interference.

Onboard sound, I would assume? I would suspect crosstalk within the board itself. Is it high pitched?

Was ust thinking of that. The squeak I had, this is a long short but well.., was when I was using onboard sound card. Since then I got an Audigy 2 card, and no moer squeak.:)

Yep. Its a new MB with onboard sound and yes, it's a high pitched sound. Any way to get rid of it?

Not that I know of. It's probably noise on the bus that gets transferred to the chip on board and comes out as audio. :P Basically, get a PCI soundcard.

I have a SB Live sitting here but I enjoyed having no cards in my PC except my video card. :) If its gets annoying, I'll switch it.

I have the same problem and I am using an Audigy Card. It only makes a sound when I scroll though. It is very annoying and I have tried to switch usb ports and it didn't work.

Do you have your onboard sound disabled in your bios?

Hmmmmm.....mouse squeaks when scrolling.
I would assume that you are scrolling to hard and are annoying your mouse. Perhaps the up and down motion doesn't please it the way it used to. I would try a circular motion while playing some soft music and offer it wine and cheese.

Hey I think I figured out what was causing the interference. I went in to my sound mixer and muted the TAD-in setting and now I don't hear it anymore. :)

Go to your sound options and select properties. Then check mark the TAD-in box for play back. Then when you close that it should show up in the list. When I muted mine the squeak sound stopped out of my speakers.

Bah...I don't have a TAD in listed. I tried even muting the master volume and it still happens.
