Why is it that you cannot get rid of this thing? You uninstall it through the control panel and it pops up every time you start Outlook (from OfficeXP). Annoying as heck.

My solution was to change the directory name that it spawns from (using some covert calls within the outlook.exe) from 'Messenger' to 'Try Again Bill'. That seemed to keep it from popping up.

How is that not linking unrelated applications to MS products? Wasn't MS already penalized for such monopolistic practices? GRRR!!

Actually even if you shut it off in the program, it is still running. Big told me this once, if you go to start, run, type in msconfig, then under the services tab, it's running there. I don't remember exactly what it was called. Big had a very awesome link that explained what all that stuff was and if you could/should/or shouldn't enable it, or make it manual.

Hopefully Bigg will read this and he can repost the link (I think he sent it to me via msn messenger), but I lost mine due to reformat. Will double check, might have posted it on here.

I can't tell for sure, but it sounds like he's talking about MSN Messenger, not the Messenger service. Maybe MSN MEssenger is running there, too, I can't check, because I'm not running it. Msconfig, services tab, will get you to the place to uncheck the messenger service, which pukes use to send you unsolicited pop-ups, but for the MSN Messenger, you should follow some of the links JIM painstakingly provided.
