With the an FF X sequal on the way Square is pondering other Final Fantasy sequals as well. Many fans (including myself) should be happy to know that their considering a sequal but don't want to ruin the games good name. The creators and character designers are down but they want to create something very high quality so nothing has been set in stone yet. Here's a link to the site where I got the story. The link should take you striaght to the article about the FF VII sequal.

Isn't the next one gonna be an online version?

Yeah Final Fantasy IX is completely on-line. The developers have not said anything about a PS 2 version in North America yet. Many are thinking that they want to avoid the problems they had in Japan by just releasing it striaght to PC here in the states but nothing is certain at this point. Final Fantasy XII is supposedly supposed to have half on-line and one player features but not much has been said about that game. We also know there is going to be a Final Fantasy XIII but they haven't said anything accept for the confirmation. This game should be a direct sequal to Final Fantasy VII and continue where Final Fantasy VII left off. This should be very interesting indeed! B)

I don't know. Online games that have subscription fees intimidate me. But on the other side, video games are heading into a whole new era of online gaming. So either way, FFXII or FFXI will do good, online or not.

Final Fantasy Tactics 2(GBA)

All should be out next year.

Are those the same game, only named differently because of the different systems?

Nope. Those are 3 separate FF games. FFX-2 is a true sequel to FFX starring Yuna. FF Tactics is the sequel to the kickass PS1 game, and FF Chronicles for GC is a completely new game.

No offical dates have been given out yet for any of these games some have not even been confirmed for the states yet. It will be a while before we see a date especially for the Final Fantasy VII sequal which hasn't even got the the green light yet their still podering it.

Square uses the "Final Fantasy" name in some games that are not really part of the series so to speak. Like Final Fantasy tactics and the Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Adventure. So there may apear to be more Final Fantasys then there really are. I wounder if the Crystal Chronical is gonna be something like tactics and not part of the main series. I would think so right?

Well they mentioned re-making the playstation Final Fantays a while ago but haven't said anything about that for a long time. This article is a bout a direct sequal to Final Fantasy VII like Final Fantasy X. Like it says its not set in stone but they are considering it. :)
