Uh, well I consider swimming and using powerups to be cheating, so yeah I think it is possible.

I think 3rd person is borderline cheating as well. I mean, when you use third person, sam magically is able to see around corners and never seems to see red when he gets hit.

But I'm not really sure exactly what you mean.

They are not really that useful. Sam is not a popular enough game to

I said yes, and sort of for the same reasons as folks put above. I just think that PUPs and camping take some of the fun out of it. Is there a way to remove the PUPs from the maps?

I am always confident in how computer smart some folks are. GM has some regulars that I think are computer genious. I am amazed some don't have their own software/hardward/consultant businesses.

I am sure that some know how to gain advantages (not skill sort of advantages), but I also think most won't use them because they play fair. In other words, I think mostly there are good people who play fair.

and because of bugs in the netcode, if you try to join a server that
has a map you don't have, you still take up a slot, a few people do that,
and the server is out of comission.

Yes it is possible to cheat in Sam, but not to the extenet as in CS. This is because that Sam is not that popular of a game.
Some cheats in the fragmatch that do physically exist are the:
hollowman skin cheat
swimming
head in ass (only works on 1.05)
There are many "myth" cheats that either work, or do not work as the more damage and teleportation strafe cheats

An easy yes because of the swimmers, although it looks like a disadvantage from the swimmers I've seen. :)

Once or twice I've seen people whose running speed and rate of fire with the double barrel shotgun seems way too fast. Wonder if there's a hack there...or is it just me...:hmmm:...probably just buggy code. :P

if croteam were on the ball, they should shrink the FOV on 3rd when
you approach something, so you can't see around corners.
so yeah, it sucks when you get corner blasted, but on the other hand
if you suspect someone there, a rocket will fix them easily... :devil:

I agree, third isn't a cheat. It's not going to make a n00b or a midrange 1st person player into DD. The great players have a combination of great aim and excellent map experience/strategy. I try 3rd occasionally and it doesn't add much to my game because I still do foolish things! :P

But it is an advantage. Change FOV to reduce cheap corner kills like you said plus allow 1st person players to turn off the red flash when they're shot and everything would be good in my opinion. Hope that's the way it is in the next Sam game.

When I look at demos there are a few kills like the picture below, but not everyone plays 3rd like that. And the guy here could have just as easily eaten a shotgun blast in the back while he camped for his unsuspecting victim. I don&#39;t think it compares to abusing the blue suit or invisiwhore in terms of performance advantage.

Anyhow I respect your opinion and all of us seem to agree they should fix the 3rd person advantage somehow-just don&#39;t agree that the advantage rises to a level one could call cheating. Too harsh IMHO. And we&#39;d have a lot of cheaters here... :P

I&#39;ve used 3rd person ever since I accidently hit the "H" key while playing SSFE.

I liked being able to see where I was landing whenever I used a jump pad.

Now when ever I try to use 1st person I feel dizzy and claustrophobic.

If you&#39;d like, maybe I can get a Dr.&#39;s slip allowing me to use 3rd person. :angel: :P

believe it or not, they did desrease the FOV from the first encounter to the second encounter, in the first encounter it&#39;s like double what it is in the second :shifty:

I can&#39;t believe what I am reading. Pups are part of the game and everyone has an option to them. 3rd person is also part of the game and everyone has an option to them as well. "Cheat" refers to methods of altering the code for your advantage. In actuality the "clipping cheat" and "head up ass cheat" you are not altering any hard code, just changing the settings in the game. The "swimming cheat" is just a flaw and can be done in the game without any modification to anything. Man you guys need to play some real games where there is actually code hackers that modify the hard code and really are "cheating".

I do feel that using any of these flaws in the game is poor sportsmanship and is for losers. I would never condone the use them.

Agreed Slice, but then again, SSSE is a weird gaming cult that has always made it&#39;s own rules.

Yeah, the game is being choked to death by rules, in SS1 people whine about taking supers(heart, big armor). People always have something to whine about.

CRC will check your configs, untill someone will figure out how to avoid it, then remember that all wallhacks are just video card (mostly opengl) hack/bug, to create aimbot hackers can use trainer to spot bones of model and keep corrected aim when you shoot (its aiming once at head or body, then releases aim)

why are you all sure that thats not possible to cheat? With PC everything is possible.

i couldnt catch some players who was invisible all game, that wasnt cheat, that was model bug - my PC didnt loaded sam model correct

i know how to avoid CRC ;)
i dont know, maybe i am wrong but to avoid, server reads only general config files, what it should read, hacker can edit config to read his own config after original CRC check

so dont be sure that this CRC saves us from cheaters ;)
