I say stick with Nvidea, easy transition since you already have one and ATI hates Nvidea drivers.
Cheap, go with this 5200 (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-145-067&catalog=48&depa=1) good company, great price, DX9 compliant as well as agp 8

got a little more scratch, try this 5600 265 ram (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=14-108-121&catalog=48&depa=1) this is the chipset I use with almost the same set up as you and I can run UT 2003 full details :jammin:

Got a little more? 5900 (http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?description=14-130-179&depa=1)

Now I'm guessing you're not going to come up with more than $200 ;)

all of these cards will play what you have real well and even the 5200 will play the new games coming out, just not at highest details.

Thanx for the link AI.
I'd go with the ATi cards and not the Sapphire ones, just to be safe.
Its a great buy, unless u want a 9800XT which is like the best card on the market!

LOL, nope, maybe you read too many reviews and don't talk to evough people who use them regularly :WTF:

I know a few gamers with the 5200 and the 5600 cards, and no complaints what so ever.

If your not looking to break the bank nvidia cards are definatly a good way to go. I believe you can snag a 5200 for around 70, a 5600 for around 90, and like pure mentioned the 256MB 5600 for 130 which isn't bad at all considering. I don't think you'll have to worry too much about the 8xAGP thing right now so its all good. I know if I were in your shoes though, I would want to upgrade from a GeForce 4MX to more than just a 5200.

I have FX 5200 128mb, and UT working very smooth, I guess in 5900 I won'y see the diffrence or I will... but still If I see UT that good with 5200, 5700+ will be pretty a blast.

buy better video cards much cheaper. nvidia had cornered the market

Yeah, I was loyal to 3DFx....until nVidia passed them in the price/performance ratio. I love what ATI has done for us consumers, giving competition with top-flight cards, and a real choice for end-users, and I have that same hope for all comers, they all help us get better cheaper cards. I wish BitBoys had gotten their Glaze3D cards going better; and the Kyro cards and whatever else.

my main beef with ATI has been compatability issues, to me at least, it seams that ATI hits great benchmarks with a great price, but their drivers aren't as easy or user friendly as Nvidea. ATI just has too many conflicts for me to recomend them, where Nvidea is true plug and play. Sure there are players who never have issues with ATI, and then there's ones like me who had wasted hours with tech support and had to send cards back :WTF: 2 different times, 3 years apart :bandhead:
