Post counts now shut off for OT only

In a further effort to curb spam, the council has voted to shut off post counts for the off topic forum only. This means that any post in OT from now on will not add to your total post count. Posts in any other forum will still add to your total count, but please keep in mind the new spam guidlines that were placed a couple of weeks ago regarding where it is allowed.

As we explained then, if you want to spam, please do so in your own clan's forum. These new guidelines and actions are necessary because the amount of spam has rendered forums like OT useless. We are a gaming site and OT is to talk about off topic subjects, not to raise post counts with threads that any other forum would ban for.

For the original members of GM, you know the reason why we came here is for our freedom to post. We are making sure that we are not compromising that at all. All we are doing is directing where it is allowed so that we can grow and attract new members. As I've always said, you are free to do what you want in your own clan's forum, especially the private ones.

I think it is great you are taking steps to curb spam.

At the seriously! website we only spammed our own clan forums anyways. We never did it in any of the other forums there.

That is true, but I think Salvation is doing this mainly because of a few members who are ruining everything with their spam in non-spam topics.. Most of these people are spamming just to increase their posts, which is non-sense. A lot of forums don&#39;t even count posts because it becomes a competition. If the spam goes down, maybe they will let posts get counted again.

I think the villiage idiot joke was pretty funny though..

frankly if anything is killing the forums, it is daoc. daoc crack has
replaced forum crack for the daoc players. it isn&#39;t a criticism, just an
observation. i rarely see any of the formerly heavy posters that have
gotten into daoc. (yeah, i see you mr clean&#33;) GM desperately needs a
new game (shooter) and new blood...

UT2K4 is out as well as BFV, when more people buy it, more people will play it, same goes with PK but that doesnt come out for a while.

speakin of ut 2004...i decided to finally use the key bindings...so i bound the flak cannon to "F" , the rocket launcher to "R" and the LG gun to the mouse wheel button...much deadlier now

I think it really sucks. I hardly ever read the clans forums and because of a few idiots the main posting area gets taken away from the regular posters. Turn up the posting delay to like 20 secs limiting posts to 3 a minute which = 180 per hour. Increasing ones post count is like a little reward and incentive to post and visit more. Yes, it might be a petty thing but psychologically it is one of the things that contributes to keeping the forums fun. You can count on one hand the people who spam this place to death we all know who they are, punish them not us.
