Where is the cheapest place to buy a LEGAL copy of XP pro?

newegg has it on sale now for $138, but you have to buy a piece of hardware. Time to get a LED fan for $10 :D

You can get it slightly cheaper than that, from less well-known places, with CD and all, but they all stipulate "with hardware purchase". You can get it for around $80 as a "license pull", but it includes no media; have to get a copy to install with.

well most do not know this but if you are a student you can get it pretty cheap. i buy them in bulk and pay around 120 for oem. or single copy oem for 138.

i could mail you a copy for 138 if you still need it.

Univ of Nebraska, Lincoln, offers two copies of XP Pro, and two copies of Office XP, for $5 and $10 respectively, per copy, which I thought was incredible. But, having talked to a couple a guys from the school, it is indeed true, or was. Other local colleges and even community colleges were offering XP Pro at $80, and I wondered how NU got such a sweet deal.

thats great and like i said, most people do not know that their is gov/student priceing on just about all software packages. this is definetly something student should take advantage of. :thumbs:
