OK here is my newiest problem. All of a suddent while im playing SSSE or eney otner game at that. I am getting POP UPS as if i was browesing the web. What the heck is this all about? It is lagging the helll out of my comp while im playing. I close everthing out before i play too. Eneybody got eney suggestions?

Do you have Kazaa or WeatherBug or some other program still running on the right side of your toolbar? That could be doing it....

yea, Clean, that could do it. What was the last thing you installed? If you didn't have it happen before, but are now, what you installed I would get rid of or atleast take it out of the start up folder.

yes, I normally work second, but last week, in the middle of the week I had to switch to first. All the electricians were getting training on some weld controllers, and I also had to stay over for a while and cover my shift. Had a 12.5 hour day on thursday. I left early friday and had a nice long weekend :D Caught up on some beer drinking lol

Go to www.download.com and download a program called AdAware and run it. It will scan your machine for all traces of ads and clean them out. I thought I had nothing on my machine and it found over 150 reg keys and hidden files. That will solve your problem.

Nice.
I thought my pc was pretty clean also. It found 25, one being Alexa which was on the bad list. And a bunch from sextracker (hmmmmmmmm, wonder how I could have gotten them?)

The answer to my question (from the Adaware forums):


The Alexa subkey really can't be considered spyware in any real sense of the word.

It comes with Internet Explorer, where it's responsible for the 'related sites' feature on your Internet Explorer Tools menu.

If you have Ad-Aware remove it, the related sites entry disappears, but when you repair or upgrade IE, it's restored again.

It's harmless though, and it's up to you to decide whether to leave it, or to have it removed.

I've told Ad-Aware to ignore it.

The official Lavasoft line:

"The Alexa key in and of itself is really quite harmless. The original thinking behind its addition to the target list was as a heads up to the user. It was added during the time of the Alexa lawsuit and might (?) become more if the user were to add the alexa tool bar. It will be reinstalled if you repair IE and/or upgrade. If this is a feature that the user wishes to keep, all they have to do is to add the key to their ignore list. If they removed it, restore from backup or use the IE repair tool. Removal of this key does not hamper the functionality of Internet Explorer and is easily replaced."

only found Alexa....<look around> ok found sextracker also....tehee, left that one on though..J/K, 4 files....kewl proggie for freeware.
