That is a good question. I imagine to get a good answer you would need some network monitoring software, which isn't inherent to XP, like 2K or NT. I don't know any freebies off the top of my head either. If you have XP Pro like me, you can run Performance Monitor though, and add counters for the 'Network Interface'. At least that is a start.
