XBox or PS2?

I am going to cross the line into console gaming this Christmas, but I don't know which one to get.

Go with the PS2. The PS2 is pretty much better then the X-Box in all aspects except for one: size. :P

I am leaning toward the PS2, but as an add-on question: What game/games should I buy? What are the most popular and best games going today?

NO way! XBOX -- there games are better, you can play the xbox online, plus it has its own hard drive, PS2 is a glorified PS1.. XBOX for sure..

The PS2 has many more quality games to it then the X-Box. Plus, it costs more to use the X-Box online.
I would recommend:
Final Fantasy X(a little older, but it can be fun)
Medal of Honor :Frontline
Madden 2003

And don't forget to pick up the Game of the year, exclusivly for the PS2:
Grand Theft Auto Vice City

Well there are more games out for ps2 however the reviews go hands down for
XBOX. bonus , online gaming through built in 10/100 card , simple rj45 to cable or
dsl modem , fastest processor , biggest hard drive , best graphics , I'ed have to say
best buy for you buck !

Well I'll give you that the X-Box online gaming is much faster and better, if not more expensive. But more quality games? Never......

The graphics for the PS2 and X-Box are nearly identical, but on the rare occasion they're diffrent, it's the PS2 who has better graphics.

XBOX has just begun - where as ps2 is outdated.. More people will make better games for xbox.. its only a matter of time.. Not to mention xbox controllers are kickass..

And wow, my friend was a xbox live beta tester, and man, what a simple quick easy setup, and the games fly online!

With the XBox, how does the internet connection work? Can I run an ethernet connection to this box from my cable, using my PC as an internet connection sharing gateway?

Playing either console online pretty much is the same. Just hook it up to a router and you are golden...and yes you can use your PC as a gateway also, the console acts just like another PC.

xBox Live is broadband only but it also costs more. PS2 supports 56k and broadband and is free.

xBox has better graphics, but less quality games, but is younger than PS2.

I wouldn't get an xBox just for Sam. Outside of the Sam fans and community it only received average ratings. Also if you like RPGs don't get an xBox.

So I guess the question remains...what types of games do you want to play?

I still would choose the PS2 over the X-Box over any genre of game you want. You pay more for the X-Box then a PS2, and as Sal said, it costs money to go online with the X-Box whereas the PS2 is free. You can compare games that are released for the PS2 and X-Box and the PS2 is much much better. I will post a comparison sooner or later, and you'll see...

Ps2 is the best choice hammer is the best you can get i mean i seen that Xbox wil never have a grand theft and thats like the Gold of ps2 and resident evil and like tony hawk 4 and all that crap i mean and the new mortal combat looks teh best on ps2 and....The Xbox one of my freinds had it blew up the proccesser first day he got it he said he was running it and it just blew the modem up he said its destructable so i woukld go with the bs2 + it's black :D...GOTHIC COLOR :P

I JUST bought a PS2 and am very happy with it. Metal Gear Solid 2, Rygar, Devil May Cry... and more.. are all SWEET games that DO NOT appear on XBOX.. (well except for MGS2 .. it finally came out for it. hehe)

Splinter Cell is coming out on PS2 next year.


and to add onto the topic. PS2!!!! First off everyone already has it so their will be more (WAY) more people playing online so the fun increases and theirs over ehh actually Im not sure on this one, over 1000 games? But anwho theirs alot.

BTW, ALL the games that are only for xbox are coming out on PC so why buy a Xbox? B)
