The two bios files.

AWDFLASH.ZIP is the flash program. You need to boot to a clean DOS, no drivers to execute this program.
ABNC101D.zip is the actual bios file. AWDFLASH will read and write this file to your bios. Be careful.

Double check version numbers. Don't flash if the your bios is the same or later. There should be a readme.txt file, READ IT....

Ok, download both files. Place unzipped files on a diskette. Put diskette in drive. Turn on PC. I think AWDFLASH will execute. It will probably ask for the name of the bios file, so, write it down. It will also probably ask if you want to save current bios. You can, just make sure you do NOT use the new bios' name.

Good Luck.

Just checking, it did say AWDFLASH.EXT? A "T" at the end. When you unzipped AWDFLASH.zip, I'm guessing there was no *.EXT. Copy the bios file to the diskette and name it AWDFLASH.EXT. Just guessing.

No, go to here Asus User Manual (http://www.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socka/nforce2/a7n8x/e1177_a7n8x.pdf) and find Chapter 2.1.2. Try following these built in flash instructions.

Need a keyboard...sure it was in the right connector? The light should flash very briefly when the bios starts, then goes off. Try the PS/2 connection and repeat what you did before to get to the bios load.

Neither have I. I scanned that User Manual to try and find out what 4 beeps mean, but it didn't say. Did quick search on Asus and still can't find error beep meanings. Sorry, but it is getting late and I have to work tomorrow. I think if you can get a keyboard to work, you will be able to flash the bios (you've been there.) I can get on from work, I'll just have to be interruptable. They sortof like me to actually work for my pay. :D

If you get it going, let us know.

Besides, I love them green Epox mobos, I've always had good luck with mine, Personally I've had seven different ones and used Epoxs to build numerous machines for others with 0% defects so far. http://www.maskiflynn.co.uk/smileys/jammin.gif

i knew after all the things we tried the board was shot. how long did you have it running for?
