I will build this myself and do not want to buy from a company like Dell, etc. So start telling me what I need to make a RELIABLE and mega powerful box. THANKS GUYS!

How much do you wanna spend? Generally you will want an AMD XP processor, KT333 motherboard, DDR memory, 7200RPM hard drive and upgrade your video card to a GF4 or Radeon 9700 if you can afford it.

Dont worry about price.. just give me options for a great computer.. I do not want to upgrade for awhile.

Ok, heres what you do...go to your local Borders and but the most recent issue of maximum PC. They built the fastest, most uber-licious computer ever....And they tell you how to make it too. Of course it will probably cause you to go banckrupt, but what the heck!

Maximum PC is a fantastic magazine. I used to subscribe to that. If I remember correctly, they give you specs of good gaming machines too that normal people can build.

My suggestion is to go for a Radeon 9700 Pro or wait for the next nVidia chip. Right now you have a GF3 Ti 500 and that is good. The Radeon even crushes the highest GF4 right now so that is your best option if you don't want to upgrade for a while.

It does get higher benches than the G4 4600 but has a issues with a lot of games. If they would reliese some drivers that were worth a sh1t I would buy one and recommend them but until the I will stick with my 4600.

Pretty much what Shogun said.
You can get the Chaintech Geforce4 4600 for $234
Ommit the rounded cables
You can get an awesome chieftech case with a 400 watt power supply for $79 comes in beige or black. I think mid $800's or so total. Also depends on what parts you are going to use out of your old puter. I usually recommend selling your existing one and applying that money towards your new one. A lot of people I build for wind up getting $500 or so out of their old one and that really takes a chunk out of the cost of the new one you are building.

Buy this case! This is my next investment. It will keep your processor, chipset, videocard chip, and MB at or very close to room temperature. It also comes in black.

Hey Hey all
i figured i would post my computers specs
AMD XP 2200+
2 80 IBM 7200RPM HD's (ATA100)
Soyo Dragon Ultra (Black) KT333
PNY 256MB PC2100 ram stick
Antec 330W PS
Artec 40/12/48 CD-RW
PNY G4 TI4600 128MB
Sound Blaster Audigy XGamer
cheap ass optical mouse
3com 10/100Mbit NIC
8 USB ports (6 USB 2.0)
etc etc.
The case i got it in i practically stole it off my buddy. I traded him a Celeron 466 MHz mobo/cpu combo with 128MB of ram for an old Gateway server case that is just as big as the Koolance and Lan-Li cases you see advertised. Now all i need is some damn watercooling and i will be fine. hehe
