I remembered seeing a new product somewhere to reduce noise. Coolermaster has come out with a kit. LINK (http://www.coolermaster.com.hk/en/products/other/pnk-u01.html) except their product is designed to be installed inside your case and that brings up another problem, They absorb heat really well. They claim it doesn't. Here's a review of their product, LINK (http://www.hkepc.net/product/other/sa-coolermaster(e).htm) They mention testing for temps., But notice they don't show before and after temps. in the results of their test. BTW I got that link off of Coolermaster's website, So Hmmmm  This stuff would be really great to use on the inside your desk panels if you have a desk that is designed to house your CPU in a enclosed cubby hole.
F.Y.I. A reduction in only 3db represents a halving of the perceptible noise you can hear and vice versa.
I knew my past experience installing sound systems would come in handy again someday. :P

If you want to go low-buck, You can do basically the same thing with some cheapo mousepads and 3M contact adhesive.
