here are unrealw's problems.
If someone can help him I will relate it to him just in case ghe does not post.

I am asking because i have your exact setup (2400+ and asus A7NX8 mobo) and for some reason it says my default multiplier is 6.5. Strange thing is, it functions at 15. Right now i have it at 143mhz bus and default (6.5) multiplier for a system clock of 2148mhz. I would like to lower the multiplier and raise the fsb, but only the 6.5 multiplier will allow the system to post. Is yours the same?

Not sure about the new XP's but all the ones up to the 2200 have been multiplier locked. The only way you can change it is is you unlock your processor. This involves connecting traces on your processor with either conductive paint (windshield defogger repair paint) or something else conductive. At the factory they cut these traces with a laser to set the multiplier and core voltage. I shall investigate further on unlocking the 2400's.

If i am correct the 2400 is already unlocked.

What do you know about the pencil lead.
I have heard that it works but does not last long.

Pencil lead will not work on the ones that have the laser cuts in them.
