I have seen many posts about CPU, Case temperature around here lately.

You know...I don't seem to have a problem, but I am not monitoring it either.

What is making your systems hot? I have two fans in my case, that's it. Running an XP2400+, I have DDR333 memory with heatsinks and a crappy 32MB GeForce, but my system never seems 'hot'. I was going to install another fan, but I thought why?

Anyone have any input?

the processor gets hot...the case gets warm from the processor heat, hard drive heat, and video card heat. but basically, your case temp would be around your room temp. you should have AT LEAST 1 fan in the front and one in the back to circulate air throughout the case or it will have an oven effect (air stays in case, accumulates, and gets hotter and hotter) hard drives get hot because they spin at 5400 or 7200+. I have 2 7200RPM hard drives on top of each other which would get very hot if i didn't have a front 80mm blowing on them.

btw, can i be a hardware mod? (to hardware mods)

What do you use to monitor temp? My fans are set up to blow air through the case so that is ok.
It's just that I never saw a huge need to do all this cooling that some gamers do.

check the temps in the BIOS...usually in something like PC Health Status...

anything under 60C or even better 50C is good...

I use Motherboard Moniter. You have to do a little setting up but after that it works great. I have it on my system tray and it shows my Motherboard and CPU temps.

Kewl, I will check that out, and look at my BIOS. I know that my motherboard has it, just haven't paid attention to it. Just be interesting to see.

Restart your system and press whatever key it prompts you to hit to enter setup...F2, DEL or some other crazy thing.

The trick to cooling is to have cool air go in and hot blow out.
The CPU and the PS mmake a bunch of heat.
What I got is a fan in front blowing cool air in.
In the back I have 1 fan and I huge exhaust fan as well.
The are some video card fans as well. I hope that this helps.

Here is a basic diagram I found that may help.

I had a few drinks in me and zapped the hd.
It was funny.
I got a RMA for it.

Hmm, thats weird I just installed and ran Motherboard Monitor and it said my CPU was at 0 degrees Celsius and 32 degrees Farenheit  I have no idea how it could be that cold,

Check it from your Bios.

You probably don't have it set up right. Open the program up and go in and tinker with the settings (Change "should display board sensor") to another one of the choices. Your board should be around 30C and cpu 40-60C
